Battlefield 2042 Hazard Zone's Escape From Tarkov Similarities Leak

A Battlefield 2042 dataminer has leaked some of the details of the upcoming game’s Hazard Zone game mode, which shares quite several similarities to other shooters such as Escape From Tarkov. While the new entry in the long-running Battlefield series was initially teased back in 2020, the latest Battlefield game was revealed by publisher EA last June with a release date of October 22, 2021, for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Unlike its most recent predecessor, Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5, this new entry won’t feature a single-player campaign and will be a multiplayer-only title. Despite this, Battlefield 2042 may be set in the same world as Battlefield 4, as seen in the former’s recently released Exodus short film which featured Kimble "Irish" Graves, a member of Battlefield 4's Tombstone Squad. But while the setting of the two games may be the same and Battlefield 2024 could be a Battlefield 4 sequel, the connection between the two may be limited to just the appearance of Irish.

Battlefield series dataminer temporyal shared a series of Tweets with details on Battlefield 2042’s Hazard Zone game mode. According to temporyal, the new mode looks to be a cross between Escape From Tarkov and Hunt: Showdown. Plus, at least one of the game’s normal multiplayer maps, called Orbital, will support the new game mode. Similar to Escape From Tarkov, Hazard Zone will be dropped into the map and must collect items such as intel from certain points before leaving via extraction zones. Players who die in the middle of a mission will also lose their items and equipment unless they use a tactical upgrade called “Loadout Insurance.”

Apart from “Loadout Insurance,” some of the other tactical upgrades were also leaked, which include an upgrade to healing speed, access to bonus rewards, starting the mission with armor, increased intel storage, and more. Players can also call in bonuses such as a Ranger or HDT Storm via certain points of interest on the map. It’s also possible that players will be able to revive their teammates through some of these locations. AI soldiers and bosses will also spawn around the map and the latter could potentially serve as extra objectives for the mission. Players will allegedly be able to earn Hazard Zone currency that they can use to purchase weapons, gadgets, tactical upgrades, and more.

While the information shared by temporyal does align with the previous Hazard Zone leak that claimed that the new game mode would be similar to Escape From Tarkov, it must still be taken with a grain of salt as none of the details have been officially announced at the moment. And with Battlefield 2042 still, a few months away, a lot of the datamined information may potentially change before the game launches in October.

If the datamined information does prove to be accurate, Battlefield 2042’s Hazard Zone game mode will definitely set it apart from some of its closest competitors which have released battle royale game modes. While a game mode akin to Escape From Tarkov may not be as accessible as a battle royale, Battlefield 2042 developer DICE may find ways to make it less intimidating for players to get into. Hopefully, more information on the new game mode will be announced in the coming weeks and will be available in Battlefield 2042’s upcoming open beta.

The Weather element does indeed and will play a huge role in Hazard Zone. This and Portal are truly next-gen stuff where it gives the players true freedom and the creativity? oof, It will be through the roof. Can't wait to join all these random battlefield servers with their weird and unique modes! Great content :-)
