Bollywood: Yoga & Vegan: Love Is Blind's Danielle Drouin Describes Rory & Matt Pod Dates

Netflix’s hit-series Love is Blind produced some memorable moments, everything from Jessica Batten giving her dog wine to Cameron Hamilton and Lauren Speed saying their first I love yous. The reality show gave us plenty of gush-worthy (and some controversial) moments. Most of these standout scenes came while the daters were still in the pods.

The pod dates helped these singles form genuine, strong bonds that acted as the foundation for possibly long lasting relationships. Love is Blind had six main couples that the show followed from start to finish, but there were actually eight engaged couples. Danielle Drouin and Rory Newbrough were one of those couples.

Screen Rant interviewed Danielle and she went into a lot more detail about her unaired experience on the show. Those following our coverage know that Danielle found herself in a complicated love triangle all throughout her experience in the Love is Blind facility. She loved Rory and Matt Thomas.

She shared with Screen Rant what drew her to both men. She said that they felt like two halves of her personality. Matt and her were very similar, both free spirits, both traveled, and things like that. With Rory, Danielle said there was an “instant connection.”

"It’s not something that I can really explain. We bonded on a lot of hardships that we went through in our childhood that were very similar, and who we are as individuals. We always want to help other people. We always put people before ourselves. We are both the party planners, and we both love this and we both like that. We had a lot in common. He was the safe choice. He was somebody that I knew would be a good father and a good provider."

As the Love is Blind experience continued, the dates got longer and the daters were allowed to “make the dates our own.” Danielle further explained that:

"We were able to send gifts over, or we could do special things: send flowers and send food. We could eat the same meal together. We could plan to have lunch and eat the same food."

Danielle and Rory took the opportunity to turn one of their dates into a special meal.

"One time, Rory and I cooked for each other. We both have dietary restrictions, so I made him a vegan apple crisps, and he made some vegan mac and cheese. So one of our dates we were having this romantic dinner together between a wall, enjoying the food that we cooked for each other. That was pretty exciting."

She also described some of her special date activities with Matt.

"We could also do activities, one time, Matt and I did yoga together. We did a whole yoga flow together, just coordinating between breathing and that was pretty special."

Danielle shared that all the contestants on Love is Blind were anxious to find their soulmate, so they begged for more time with their top picks.

"Towards the end, we were in the pods until late at night. They actually had to extend the time for us. They were like, ‘You guys are sure you don’t want to go to bed?’ And we were like 'No, no give us more time. This is our whole life at stake, give us more time.’ We weren’t sleeping. We were like we’ll sleep when we’re dead. We need to find out who our husband is."

Danielle and all the other contestants seem to have had some special pod dates, and no matter what happened with the couple, they’ll have those memories for life.
