Sonic the Hedgehog Crossover Content Coming To Monster Hunter Rise
Capcom revealed during the Tokyo Game Show that Monster Hunter Rise will have a crossover event with Sonic the Hedgehog, marking the game's first third-party crossover. The Monster Hunter series has crossed over with numerous franchises, including several Capcom properties, and third-party series, including Final Fantasy, The Witcher, and The Legend of Zelda.
The Nintendo Monster Hunter games had lots of crossovers with first-party Nintendo franchises like Fire Emblem, Metroid, and Super Mario Bros. This is no longer the case, as the Monster Hunter series has gone multiplatform, which means that the crossover collaborations now have to belong to Capcom or willing third-party developers. Monster Hunter Rise has already crossed over with several Capcom franchises, including Mega Man and Street Fighter.
It was revealed during the Tokyo Game Show that the next Capcom collaboration with Monster Hunter Rise would be with Ghosts 'n' Goblins Resurrection, with gear based on Arthur. The trailer for this collaboration can be seen on the official Monster Hunter YouTube channel. The roadmap shown at the end of the trailer revealed that a Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration would be happening in November.

Capcom has since confirmed in a press release that the collaboration is part of the 30th anniversary celebrations for the Sonic the Hedgehog series. The company will release more details about this event ahead of its launch in November. This isn't the first time that Monster Hunter and Sonic the Hedgehog have crossed over. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate had a crossover event with Sonic the Hedgehog, where the player could unlock a Sonic outfit for their Palico, as well as a Green Hill Zone theme for their Guild Card. It's likely that the Monster Hunter Rise crossover will also involve the Palico, and that there will be another Sonic costume for them to wear. It's also possible that there could be costumes based on Tails or Knuckles.
The fact that Monster Hunter Rise is coming to PC means that the first-party Nintendo crossovers are done, but there could be lots of potential crossovers with Sega in the game's future. Sega has had no problem using the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5 in crossovers in the past, so a Morgana costume would be a natural fit for the Palico. The upcoming Sunbreak expansion for Monster Hunter Rise means that Capcom will be supporting the game for a while longer, and there's potential for more third-party crossovers to happen in the future.
The Sonic the Hedgehog Event Quest in Monster Hunter Rise will take place in November.
