Pokémon GO: The Best Zamazenta Raid Counters | Screen Rant

Zamazenta is coming to Pokémon GO. Pokémon GO is currently hosting its Ultra Unlock event, an occasion that was provided to the players who completed all 24 Global Challenges during GO Fest. Ultra Unlock has been broken up into three different parts, each with its own legendary Pokémon to capture and Timed Research to complete. The first two parts were known since the event was announced but the final third one was kept secret until now. Players can now expect Pokémon from the Galar region to appear in Pokémon GO later this month. This includes the iconic legendary Pokémon Zacian and Zamazenta.

Zamazenta will begin to appear in 5-star raid battles from Thursday, August 26, 2021, to Wednesday, September 1, 2021. This is during the second week of the Ultra Unlock Part 3: Sword and Shield event. Pokémon from Galar like Wooloo and Falinks will also be joining the roster. It's common for a new generation to be introduced into the game and for developers to drip-feed new Pokémon through future updates. Zamazenta will only be available for this week, and it's unknown when they will return. This guide will show players the best Pokémon to use counter Zamazenta in Pokémon GO so players can capture one.

Zamazenta will likely be in its Fighting/Steel-type form in Pokémon GO since that is the most iconic version. Because of this, players will want to bring along Pokémon with Fighting- or Fire-type moves as a counter. Here are the best Pokémon to bring for this raid battle:

  • Mega Charizard Y: Fire Spin and Blast Burn.
  • Moltres: Fire Spin and Overheat.
  • Darmanitan: Fire Fang and Overheat.
  • Conkeldurr: Counter and Dynamic Punch.
  • Entei: Fire Fang and Overheat.
  • Blaziken: Counter and Blaze Kick.

If players don't have any of these Pokémon, they can also opt to bring along a Pokémon that knows Fire or Fighting-type moves.

Since Zamazenta appears in a 5-star raid battle, players should aim to be in a group of at least five other players. Joining with any fewer might make it difficult if not impossible to defeat Zamazenta before the timer runs out. Players should aim to play on the first day of the event since that's when the most eager players are looking for legendary Pokémon. The Pokémon GO Ultra Unlock event is also a great chance to find Shiny forms of some of the Galarian Pokémon already in the game. Pokémon like Meowth and Weezing will appear more frequently during this event.
