Bollywood: Galaxy Watch 4 Might Fix One Of Wear OS's Biggest Problems

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 has leaked (again) just days before its expected announcement — this time revealing a massive advantage it may have over existing Wear OS smartwatches. The Galaxy Watch 4 will be one of the first wearables to launch with the new Wear OS platform co-developed by Google and Samsung. The still-unnamed OS is essentially a combination of current Wear OS and Tizen platforms, with Google touting improved performance, longer battery life, and better app support than Wear OS watches on the market today.

As for the Galaxy Watch 4, specifically, a great deal has already been revealed about the device. It's expected to come in two styles (normal and Classic), multiple sizes, tons of color options, and have a circular AMOLED display like Samsung's previous Galaxy Watch releases. While the hardware isn't drastically different from the Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Watch Active 2, the subtle improvements that are present do look quite good.

WinFuture has provided the best look yet at the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic in this most recent leak. The renders reiterate previous leaks, confirming that the designs shown here are all but final. With the regular Galaxy Watch 4, Samsung is going for an ultra-minimalistic approach. There's a clean aluminum case, two physical buttons for controlling the UI, and the watch band flows seamlessly into the top and bottom for a completely uninterrupted look. The Watch 4 Classic has essentially the same form factor. However, it's made out of stainless steel, has a more intricate case design, and has numbers etched into the bezel to mimic the appearance of a traditional wristwatch.

While these renders aren't groundbreaking, WinFuture goes on to sight a few reported specs for the Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic — the most impressive of which is that they'll feature 7-day battery life. If this claim is accurate, that alone could make the Galaxy Watch 4 series a game-changer for the Android smartwatch space. Most Wear OS watches get through one or two days of use per charge. Stepping up to 7-day endurance would put the Galaxy Watch 4 on the same level as smartwatches from Fitbit and Garmin, albeit with much more advanced smart features. What makes this even more impressive is that the reported 361 mAh battery for the larger Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic is only slightly larger than the 340 mAh battery in the Galaxy Watch 3 — a smartwatch that lasts just two days per charge.

Outside of the battery, other specs for the Watch 4 sound equally as impressive. On the health/fitness side of things, there will be a heart-rate sensor, ECG and Sp02 tracking, fall detection, and 40+ workout modes. WinFuture also reports 5ATM waterproofing, an STD-810G durability rating, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and optional 4G LTE connectivity.

It remains unclear how much the Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic will cost, but with these specs in mind, it sounds like Samsung has crafted worthy successors to its exisitng smartwatch lineup. The company is holding its next Unpacked event on August 11, so expect all the official details to be revealed then. Stay tuned!
