The Gluttonous Goats are one of the many bosses players will encounter in Psychonauts 2. Psychonauts 2 picks up right from where the first one ended and is all about entering the minds of Raz's friends to help them with whatever they are dealing with mentally and emotionally. From anxiety to depression and beyond, Psychonauts 2's level design allows for tons of creative puzzle-solving and platforming through the complexities of the human mind. In the Compton's Cookoff level, players will attempt to help Compton deal with his issues and grab a few collectibles along the way. The Gluttonous Goats will be testing Compton's ability to create a dish. Raz will need to help him after he's locked away in an isolation station.
The fight with the Gluttonous Goats has a game show vibe. The Gluttonous Goats themselves are acting as the judges for the event. It is up to Raz to collect ingredients and create the perfect dish to save Compton. At the same time, Raz will need to dodge vomit, as the Goats just ate and will eject their meal to cause massive damage.
This battle can be difficult, so players should save their game before jumping into it. The Gluttonous Goats boss battle is broken into three different phases. These phases correspond to the three different dishes Raz needs to make to win. Players must gather the correct ingredients for each dish, dodge vomit and mobs, and deposit the ingredients into the proper channels to allow the Goats to take damage.
The first dish in the boss fight with the Gluttonous Goats will be the Vegetable Medley. The required ingredients will be displayed on the screens to the left and the right of the Goats. Raz will need to look around the arena, pluck the ingredient from the goat's vomit using his Telekinesis ability, and throw it in the proper slot. It's important to remain as clear of the vomit as possible since it does damage. Raz, Compton, and the Goat host have verbal cues to indicate Raz has grabbed the correct ingredient.
Once the dish is completed, the goats will eat it, leaving them wide open to take an attack. Raz can use this time to deal damage and prepare for the next dish. If Raz has already taken too much damage during the round, they can avoid the Goats' attacks, and a green health pick-up will appear in the dissolved vomit.
In the second and third phases, players will need to create the Royal Borscht and the Jam Tarts. Similar to the first phase, players will need to run around the arena and collect ingredients. This time, the ingredients will be different, but players will still need to grab them and throw them into the proper channels. Damaged Goats will also transform into kitchen appliances and attack. The first is a mixer that will send gunk toward Raz while he works. Players should make sure to fall back toward the edge to avoid these strikes. The other is a spatula. It will turn over when it's indicating that it's about to charge. Raz should simply jump out of the way when this happens. Eventually, the Goats will begin to summon mobs to attack Raz. Players can use their melee attacks or pyrokinesis to clear them out.
After completing the Jam Tarts, Raz must attack the Gluttonous Goats one more time directly to complete the battle. As a final twist, it will be revealed that the Goats were just Compton in a Goat costume. He's eager to clean up the mess made in the kitchen. Before leaving this level, players should make sure they grab every Compton's Cookoff Collectible to increase Raz's Cadet Rank.
