Breath Of The Wild Player Discovers Adorable Sheep Detail

One Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild player recently made an incredibly wholesome and realistic discovery about the sheep roaming the farms of Hyrule. Even after four years, fans are still finding new things to talk about in Nintendo's hit open-world action-adventure title, which launched on the Nintendo Switch to great success back in 2017.

These little discoveries in Breath Of The Wild have ranged from uncovering a sunny hilltop that resembles the iconic “Bliss” Windows XP wallpaper to figuring out how to sneak past enemies in barrels like Metal Gear Solid's Solid Snake. Some Breath Of The Wild secrets requires the use of glitches to uncover, as was the case with one player locating some notoriously hard-to-find treasure chests. Others perform in-game tricks like using Link’s trusty Master Cycle Zero, a motorcycle that can be unlocked through a DLC questline, as the engine for a motorboat. The subject of this story isn't nearly as elaborate as that, though; it's just an adorable discovery made while wandering the wide world of Hyrule.

Reddit user alterpoda posted a few pictures to the r/Breath_of_the_Wild yesterday, showing off how the game’s sheep react to rainy weather. While they typically roam freely across Hyrule’s farmland, once a storm brews they all scurry and huddle close to each other underneath a tree, just like real sheep do. This behavior, in addition to being realistic, is quite adorable, as seen in the photo below.

AI behavior in video games has grown incredibly sophisticated these days, as evidenced by Rockstar's similarly open-world title, Red Dead Redemption 2. The NPC civilians of that particular game will become realistically angry if a player interrupts their sleep, and the animals are so lifelike that people have even written reports on their behavior after observing them for extended periods in-game. Things aren’t entirely perfect yet, as some Cyberpunk 2077 NPCs have been known to spontaneously combust or even tackle cars, owing to that game's notorious spate of bugs and glitches.

On the other hand, alterpoda’s discovery of sheep huddling under shelter in The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild is a cute and surprisingly realistic visual within the high-fantasy world of Hyrule. It’s not something many would think about when trying to imagine Link’s latest sword-and-sorcery adventure, but little details like this help in making the game feel all the more real and believable to players as they travel the lands of the Zelda franchise. Said players won’t have to wait too long to return there either, as The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild’s as-of-yet untitled sequel is set to launch sometime next year.
