Rian Johnson's cast for Knives Out 2 is expanding as Iron Fist and The Matrix 4 star Jessica Henwick joins the Netflix sequel. The 2019 predecessor centered on Daniel Craig's eccentric private detective Benoit Blanc as he investigates the death of a wealthy true-crime novelist, suspecting he was murdered by one of his family members. The film proved to a mammoth success for Johnson and studio Lionsgate, grossing over $311 million against its $40 million budget and scoring rave reviews from critics, garnering three Golden Globe nominations and one Oscar nod.
As production nears its start, Deadline has brought word that Henwick has joined the cast for the film, which is already full of big names including Dave Bautista, Kate Hudson, Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., and Janelle Monáe. Plot details are still being kept under wraps for the film; aside from the confirmation, it will see Blanc investigating another murder involving a large cast of characters. Shooting is reportedly set to commence on the film on June 28 in Greece.
Following her breakout turn in HBO's Game of Thrones, Henwick has enjoyed a steady climb in the ranks of Hollywood, acting as part of the main cast for Netflix's Marvel universe beginning with Iron Fist and also starring in the Kristen Stewart-led aquatic horror Underwater, the post-apocalyptic rom-com Love and Monsters and the upcoming The Matrix 4.
As Henwick's star continues to rise, Knives Out 2 may set the stage for the next level of her career. The question now is whether she ends up being the villain or a victim in Johnson's next twist-filled murder mystery.
