10 Most Heroic Moments In Quentin Tarantino Movies | ScreenRant

Quentin Tarantino's movies are not filled with typical Hollywood heroes. Even his protagonists tend to be rather ruthless and immoral people who are sometimes capable of doing horrendous things. But there are moments in which these characters rise to a certain heroic level.

While Pulp Fiction and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood don't have the kind of good guys audiences would see in the MCU, there are moments where even the most violent character can surprise. From saving lives to defeating the villains against all odds, these moments prove Tarantino can create true cinematic heroes.

10 John Ruth Warns Mannix (The Hateful Eight)

The Hateful Eight gives Kurt Russell yet another great Western role as John Ruth, a bounty hunter taking Daisey Domergue to hang. He is not fond of being stuck in a cabin with these unsavory characters and seems especially annoyed with Chris Mannix.

However, after vomiting up blood, Ruth realizes someone has poisoned the coffee. Even though he knows he is about to die, he warns Mannix not to drink it, saving the life of a man he dislikes with his final words.

9 Pausing Her Fight With Vernita (Kill Bill Vol. 1)

In the first Kill Bill movie, Vernita Green is the first target the audience sees The Bride going after in her mission of revenge. Their subsequent fight proves how deadly and proficient these women are as well as how determined The Bride is to get payback.

However, the scene also establishes The Bride's softer side very quickly. As the two women are engaged in a fight to the death, Vernita's daughter returns home from school. The Bride takes pity on Vernita, agreeing to pause the fight while the little girl is present.

8 Cliff Kills The Manson Family (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood)

Along with being his stuntman, Cliff Booth is Rick Dalton's best friend. But while he is nice enough to drive him to work and watch his television appearances with him, Rick likely didn't expect Cliff to look out for him this much.

As Rick is drunk in the pool and his new wife is asleep in the house, members of the Manson family break into Rick's home. Unfortunately for them, Cliff is there, and though he is high on acid, he proceeds to kill all of the would-be killers and save the day.

7 The Girls Fight Back Against Stuntman Mike (Death Proof)

For much of Death Proof, Stuntman Mike is presented as a truly terrifying villain. He is a killer who stalks and murders women using his souped-up car. The climax of the movie finds him terrorizing another group of women only for them to fight back.

After shooting Stuntman Mike, the girls chase him down in their car as the serial killer starts crying in fear. They continue to make him regret ever trying to kill these girls as they run him off the road and deliver him a beating that ensures he can't kill any more innocent women.

6 Jules Refuses To Kill Pumpkin (Pulp Fiction)

After all the violence shown in Pulp Fiction, audiences likely expected a similarly bloody finale. When it turns out that hitmen Jules and Vincent are in the same diner that Pumpkin and Honey Bunny are robbing, it seems to be heading in that direction.

Predictably, Jules pulls a gun on Pumpkin when he tries to take his boss's package, leading to an intense standoff. But while Jules could easily kill the thief, he decides to hand over his own wallet and let him go, starting Jules's more peaceful path in life.

5 Mr. Orange Saves Officer Nash (Reservoir Dogs)

For much of the runtime of Reservoir Dogs, Mr. Orange lies bleeding to death on the ground without really doing much else. Mr. Blonde hardly even seems to notice him when he begins torturing the captured police officer, Nash.

After Mr. Blonde cuts off Nash's ear, he prepares to burn the poor man alive when Mr. Orange suddenly shoots Mr. Blonde dead. Despite knowing it could expose him as an undercover officer and nearly being dead himself, Mr. Orange decides to act.

4 The Bride Escapes Her Coffin (Kill Bill Vol. 2)

The Kill Bill movies show The Bride doing many badass things, from fighting armies of bad guys to hunting down her sworn enemies. But as incredible as her fighting skills are, The Bride's real advantage is her willingness to survive.

After being buried alive in a grave, The Bride takes a moment to be afraid then snaps into action. Using her training, she manages to punch her way out of her coffin and crawl up through the dirt to freedom.

3 The Plan To Rescue Broomhilda (Django Unchained)

Though it is an ultra-violent Western, Django Unchained also feels a bit like an old fairy tale about heroes rescuing a princess from the evil villains. So after gaining his freedom, Django sets out to free his wife Broomhilda from slavery.

He and his partner Schultz devise a plan to buy Broomhilda from the evil Calvin Candie. But when that plan fails and Schultz is killed, Django rides back to Candie's plantation, kills all the slavers, and escapes with his wife.

2 Shoshanna Wins The War (Inglourious Basterds)

Shoshanna is introduced in the unforgettable first scene of Inglorious Basterds as she flees from the Nazi following the murder of her family. But she is not content to stay in hiding at her French movie theater and soon plots her vengeance.

While Aldo Raine and his men also have a plan to take out Hitler and the Nazis during the movie premiere at Shoshanna's theater, they prove to be rather incompetent. But Shoshanna allowed herself to be underestimated so she could trap the Nazis in the theater and burn it down, thus winning the war.

1 Butch Goes Back For Marsellus (Pulp Fiction)

After Butch goes back on his deal with mobster Marsellus Wallace, the two men become bitter enemies. When they happen upon each other in the street, they begin fighting to the death. Their battle spills over into a pawn shop where they find more trouble than they expected.

The two men are captured by the sadistic men who run the shop. But after Butch is able to escape, he decides that he cannot let Marsellus suffer such a grim fate at their hands, even if Butch did try to kill Marsellus himself. Instead, he returns, armed with a samurai sword, and rescues his former enemy.
