Bollywood: The X-Men Are Going Corporate In New X-Corps Series

The X-Men relaunch is about to take a corporate twist in a new X-Corp series. Jonathan Hickman's X-Men relaunch has seen the entire mutant race gather on the living island of Krakoa. There, they are attempting to build a mutant utopia where they can finally be safe from the world of prejudice they have saved so many times.

But how does this mutant society coordinate with the rest of the world? So far, the X-books have only offered tantalizing hints. Apparently Professor X's fortune has made all this possible, and mutants like Archangel and Monet St. Croix are administrating his business empire. Given the Hickman era has breathed new life into so many classic X-Men concepts, most readers had assumed this was setup for a relaunched X-Corp series.

It seems those expectations were correct. Marvel Comics has just announced a new X-Corp series by writer Tini Howard (Excalibur) and artist Alberto Foeche (Dan Dare). Launching in May, this will premiere a brand new team of X-Men who attempt to handle the mutant race's business interests. The modern X-Corp is led by two of the most intriguing characters of the Hickman era, Archangel and Monet St. Croix, who have been given an exciting new status quo where they can transition between different powersets and even physical appearances at will. Those developments were teased back in 2019's House of X miniseries, and now it seems these two mutants will finally step into the spotlight. Marvel's official teaser reads:

"The deals have been made. Mutantkind is safe on Krakoa. As the Reign of X continues, what are the wants of the mutants who have everything? Leading the charge is X-CORPORATION, headed by CXOs Monet St. Croix and Warren Worthington, a duo as cutthroat and ruthless in the boardroom as they are on a battlefield. But X-Corp needs more than just its figureheads. As Monet sets out to staff their team with some of the brightest and most deviant minds in mutantkind, Warren finds himself in a tense confrontation with one of Krakoa’s first allies who wants to know the truth: on Angel’s wings, will X-Corp crash or soar? "

X-Corp has been in the works for quite some time – as noted, the seeds were sown all the way back in 2019. According to Marvel, Tini Howard first pitched this story some time ago but was forced to shelve it in order to focus on the X of Swords event. "Empyre: X-Men gave me a chance to test-drive some of the earliest concepts," she explained in an official press statement, "Angel and Monet as dual CXOs, Jamie Madrox by their side, and the cleaning-up of some of Charles Xavier's portfolio. Since then, I've reworked the book entirely - and you'll know exactly why you've waited until now to see what they're up to. I've got a corporate past myself, and it's all going into this book. X-Corp: We're Simply Superior."

It's going to be exciting to see what the future has in store for the mutant race. X-Corp promises to combine superhero excitement with the uncanny new context of the X-Men. Hopefully Howard will also explore the as-yet-unexplained expansion of Archangel and Monet's powersets, revealing just how this mysterious new status quo came to be. X-Corp is certainly going to be a bold new step for the X-Men franchise.
