Bollywood: Why Pokémon Fans Want Diamond & Pearl Remakes So Badly

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl were released in North America in April 2007, introducing many fans to Pokémon's fourth generation and the Sinnoh region on the Nintendo DS. Like every generation of Pokémon games, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl served as a gateway to the series for many players. Because of this, fans would love to see the Sinnoh region make a reappearance on the Nintendo Switch by means of a full remake.

Hopes for a Diamond and Pearl remake have circulated the internet for months, fueled by supposed leaks and fan speculation about the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon series. Diamond and Pearl combined many features from previous games that were well-liked by fans, such as the return of Generation 2's night and day cycles, which affected how different Pokémon spawned, and Pokémon Contents from Generation 3, which were renamed Pokémon Super Contests and received new features.

Fans have already seen what Game Freak can do when remaking older titles in the Pokémon series. Generation 3 was remade in 2014 with the release of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, reimaging the entire Hoenn region with updated graphics, cleaner gameplay and new features originally introduced after the original Ruby and Sapphire came out. Players were also able to see the Kanto region in a new light with the release of Let's GO, Pikachu! and Eevee! While not technically main-series Pokémon titles, Let's GO explored what Pokémon could achieve on the Nintendo Switch and gave players a beautiful 3D tour of the Kanto region.

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl are significant for being the first games in the series to use Wi-Fi features, as well as the first to split Pokémon moves into Physical and Special categories. These facts alone make them worth remaking, but most fans simply expect a remake at this point because they are the oldest Pokémon games that have yet to be remade. With remakes of Generations 1, 2, and 3 already released, it only makes sense for Game Freak to tackle Sinnoh next.

Like other older titles in the Pokémon series, copies of Diamond and Pearl can be difficult to locate. The first two generations were ported to the 3DS, but Diamond and Pearl were not, limiting Sinnoh gameplay to those who can find a cartridge - usually at a fairly high price. Releasing a remake for Diamond & Pearl would give players access to a version of the games on a modern console, making it possible for fans of Gen 4 to replay them without the hassle of trying to find a cartridge and an older game system. Currently, there isn't any confirmation of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl remakes on the way, but many remain hopeful that an announcement will be made soon.
