Bollywood: Every Stephen King Story Set in Jerusalem's Lot

The seemingly cursed, sometimes vampire-filled town of Jerusalem's Lot has appeared in multiple Stephen King stories, and here's the full rundown. Over his decades as an enormously successful author, King has created plenty of fictional locations, most of which usually end up devolving into some type of living hell for their residents. Sometimes they're overrun by monsters, other times by illness, or even sometimes the hunting ground for Lovecraftian beasts. Basically, it's not fun to be a Stephen King character.

King's most famous fictional town is no doubt Castle Rock, which has featured in about a dozen stories, and been mentioned in many more. The town even spawned a Hulu anthology series of the same name, with each season of Castle Rock focusing on new characters and events happening in the area. There's also of course Derry, the small Maine town that IT calls home, most often appearing in the form of Pennywise the Clown to chase around the Losers' Club. Other King books have also made stops in Derry.

Then there's Jerusalem's Lot, a place King hasn't visited quite as often as Castle Rock or Derry, but which still serves as an important landmark in the overall King literary universe. Here are the stories set there.

Salem's Lot (1975) - King's second published novel after Carrie, Salem's Lot is one of his most famous stories, and served to introduce Jerusalem's Lot to readers. The story of writer Ben Mears, who returns to the town after decades away only to encounter a vampire infestation, has been adapted into two different miniseries, in 1979 and 2004. Each has their strong points, but neither really does the book justice.

One for the Road (1977) - First published in Maine Magazine in 1977 and later collected in 1978's Night Shift, One for the Road is a sequel that sheds light on what happened to Jerusalem's Lot after the events of Salem's Lot. Unfortunately, Ben setting fire to the town didn't kill all the vampires, and the residents of the surrounding communities now avoid the place like the plague. Anyone who goes in, won't be coming back out.

Jerusalem's Lot (1978) - A prequel set in 1850, Jerusalem's Lot follows a man named Charles Boone and his manservant Calvin McCann, who go to live in the feared mansion known as Chapelwaite. It turns out the place is deservedly avoided by most, as what Charles finds inside of Chapelwaite leads him down a rabbit hole of old family secrets, a deserted village, and of course, vampires. This story was also published as part of Night Shift, and is now being adapted for TV by EPIX.
