Real Housewives of Potomac's Season 5 Pushed to Summer Due to Coronavirus Concerns

Real Housewives of Potomac has become one of the best shows in the Real Housewives franchise. These ladies have stepped it way up since that first season that centered all around Potomac-etiquette. The women have truly delivered. Season 4 was one of Bravo's best shows, from the allegations against Michael Darby to the never-ending feud between frenemies Karen Huger and Gizelle Bryant, the woman brought the laughs and the drama week after week.

After such a landmark season, the bar was set high for season 5. And once, again, it looks like the ladies are bringing a lot to the table. When that trailer dropped, fans learned that Ashley Darby faces bombshell rumors about Michael. Again. This time, he went back to a hotel room with a stripper. Karen Huger and her husband Ray Huger seem to be struggling in their marriage. Robyn Dixon got engaged to her ex-husband Juan Dixon. Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard got into a physical altercation. Gizelle Bryant is back with her ex, Pastor Jamal Bryant. And there's a new girl in the mix, Wendy Osefo. These women came through to give the fandom everything they wanted and more.

Season 5 of RHOP was set to drop on May 3. That date is soon approaching. But unfortunately, the premiere has been derailed in response to the coronavirus pandemic. People announced the news on Thursday. A production source told the outlet, "Pushing back RHOP would ensure Bravo has a steady flow of new programming on Sunday nights throughout the summer. Season 2 of Married to Medicine Los Angeles, also set to premiere May 3, will remain on the schedule as planned." A new premiere date was not specifically mentioned.  In response to the Twitter outrage, Andy Cohen reminded fans, "We have the riches of NY & BH right now. Let’s be grateful for what we have and look forward to the bounty that awaits!"

And, of course, the cast spoke out as well. Robyn posted, "Please don’t shoot the messenger!!! As part of the @bravotv family, we are all in this together! A little sacrifice will go a long way." Candiace kept it optimistic, promising fans, "when it comes, it will STILL give you EVERYTHING you have been wanting and MORE. So many surprises. Shockers. Shifts. Rifts (Tuh). It’s allllllllll going to be worth the wait!!! I would not lie to you." Gizelle teased, "The Season is sooo fire." Ashley and Karen told their followers the same message"when we say it will be worth the wait, we MEAN IT!'' Monique just shared a photo of herself looking disappointed while filming a confessional.

There was no indication about why RHOP was sacrificed instead of Married to Medicine Los Angeles, which is far from the most popular show on the network. Season 4 was a breakout season for the Real Housewives of Potomac cast. It would make so much sense to just keep that momentum going. However, what's done is done. If anything, the increased wait coupled with cabin fever is just going to heighten the expectations for the season. And there's no doubt the tea will still be hot whenever it gets spilled.
