Hurricane Ian Storm Surge Creeps Into North Myrtle Beach

Hurricane Ian was forecast to make landfall in South Carolina as a Category 1 hurricane on Friday, September 30, bringing a life-threatening storm surge, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) warned. Seth Barham said he took this footage in the Cherry Grove area of North Myrtle Beach as the storm surge arrived on his street. Ian had made landfall as a Category 4 storm in southwest Florida before weakening as it headed eastward across the state. It restrengthened to a hurricane on Thursday and was accelerating as it took aim at the South Carolina coast, the NHC said. Credit: Seth Barham via Storyful
