Lightning Forks Above Oklahoma During Severe Storms

Severe thunderstorms with heavy rain, wind, lightning, and hail hit eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas late Wednesday night, May 4, the National Weather Service (NWS) said. Slow-motion video taken by Colby Neal shows lightning illuminating the sky as heavy rain lashed his windshield on Wednesday night in Broken Arrow, southeast of Tulsa, he said. Residents were warned to seek shelter as wind gusts up to 60 mph and penny-sized hail were possible. Flash flood warnings remained in effect Thursday morning as the NWS reported some areas having already received up to 10 inches of rainfall. Credit: Colby Neal via Storyful
