Wills, Kate step out in support of Ukraine

Dressed in blue, and sporting blue and yellow badges representing Ukraine’s flag, the royal couple learned about the extraordinary efforts being made to support the country’s people in the UK and across Europe as Russian President Vladimir Putin continues his attack on the nation. The couple met members of the Ukrainian community and volunteers, and brought trays of homemade chocolate brownies and granola bars with them from Kensington Palace to give to volunteers. The Cambridges spoke to Saleh Saeed, CEO of the Disasters Emergency Committee, to hear about the ongoing Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. They also learned how the UK public can best support the besieged country while sorting and packaging donated items.William and Kate previously said they stand with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and “all of the nation’s people” during Russia’s invasion. In a tweet personally signed off with their initials, they wrote: “In October 2020 we had the privilege to meet President Zelenskyy and the First Lady to learn of their hope and optimism for Ukraine’s future.“Today we stand with the President and all of Ukraine’s people as they bravely fight for that future.”President Zelenskyy responded thanking them for their support.“Olena and I are grateful to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge that at this crucial time, when Ukraine is courageously opposing Russia’s invasion, they stand by our country and support our brave citizens,” he said.“Good will triumph.”– with The Sun
