It's the biggest LEGO franchise in the world - Star Wars is galaxies ahead of the rest when it comes to both physical sets and gaming, now gamers are eagerly awaiting the most expansive game ever made for the series.
Quirky and childish on the surface, LEGO Star Wars offers fans of all ages a new perspective on iconic characters and locations.
Many would believe The Skywalker Saga is just all the classic LEGO Star Wars games remastered, but it's seemingly so much more than that.
TT Games has recreated LEGO Star Wars from the ground up, essentially producing an entirely new Star Wars gaming experience.
In an interview with 9News, Senior Producer for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, James Burgon, says despite an overhaul of gameplay, many of the classic LEGO game elements remain.
Can you take me through the key differences between the older games and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga?
"It's true, all of it! We could've gone with a straight remaster of the classic games, however, we really wanted to push the boundaries of what a LEGO Star Wars game could be. Combat has been entirely reimagined, from aiming down the sights of a blaster to have full control on what Stormtrooper you're focusing on, to having full 360-degree control of the camera at all times; allowing you to pick up rocks using the force and fully control where you throw them.
"It ultimately gives the player incredible precise control over how they decide to take down the Empire, Separatists or First Order."
With over 300 playable characters, how unique is each character to play?
"We broke characters down into classes, as to make it easier for players to understand who was required at certain puzzles. See an orange Hero terminal? It's now much clearer visibly and via the Datapad to select a Hero character (with their orange character icon) and complete the Free Play task. That said, every Star Wars character and creature has their own unique quirks, idle animations and attack/counter moves.
"We wanted combat to feel satisfying for everyone, whether you're wielding a dual lightsaber as Darth Maul or bopping foes in the knees as tiny Babu Frik!"
Which planet and/or saga are you most excited for players and fans to experience for the first time?
"While every planet from the original trilogy to the prequels has been lovingly built from scratch, the most exciting content for me has to be the new films – more specifically Episode 8 and Episode 9.

"There were some fantastic new planets in those films, from the red-salted plains of Crait, to the constant thunder and darkness of Exegol, despite their screen time being rather short. Getting to explore and flesh out those interesting worlds was a dream come true.
"Actually letting players land on Exegol and explore the Sith Loyalists hideout, from chasing down prototype clones to discovering secret Sith notes revealing evil truths is something I'm really excited for players to be able to do!"
What surprises can you hint at that fans can be excited for?
"Oh, there's loads of great moments; From the return of the Hot Tub Stormtroopers from the original to the inclusion of Willrow Hood and Mister Bones as playable characters. There's in-jokes for LEGO fans, Star Wars fans, and even TT Games fans in the mix.

"One of my favourite quests is helping a Wookiee barbershop group with their rendition of a Star Wars classic – some hilarious audio work there from the team. Bless them, those Wookiee's need some practice!"
Does the game still feature all the iconic red bricks with crazy game-changing skins and cheats? If so, what are some of the quirky elements you're excited for players to experience?
"It isn't a LEGO game without some silly Extras. Collecting Datacards across the galaxy will allow you to unlock these special bonuses, whether that's the classics like Studs x2 / x4 / x8 etc. Or some more bizarre ones. Always fancied a pet Porg as a companion? You can do that. Lightsabers not doughy enough for you? Unlock Baguette lightsabers!
"The ultimate for me has to be some of the retro TV effects so you can almost replicate the classic times of playing The Complete Saga through a RGB/SCART cable through a CRT TV on a PlayStation 2 – if you squint a bit at least!"
Any tips for players starting their LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga journey?
"Collect every stud! You'll want to ensure 'studdage' is not a problem and obtaining True Jedi in levels awards you up to three Kyber Bricks per level, which are great for upgrading Character Classes!
"There's lots of things to spend studs on which will aid you on your journey, from purchasing new vehicles or characters, to even giving H1-NT, the well-travelled protocol droid who's always there to help, some studs for rumours or hints to possible Kyber Brick locations or hidden quests."
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC on April 5.
