Albanese pledges to revive university sector

Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese has pledged to revive the university sector which he claimed has been smashed by the Morrison government's "savage cuts" and “cynical culture wars”. On Sunday Mr Albanese launched Labor’s unofficial election campaign from Sydney where he pitched a billion-dollar investment into TAFE and universities to ensure school leavers will be upskilled in sectors hard hit by the pandemic. Labor’s Future Made in Australia plan will deliver 465,000 free TAFE places to school leavers, as well as up to 20,000 university places in courses targeting skills shortages. “We will revive a university sector that this government has willfully and wantonly smashed with savage cuts and costly, cynical culture wars,” Mr Albanese said during Sunday’s rally.
