Jailed American Journalist Danny Fenster Returns Home From Myanmar

American journalist Danny Fenster arrived at John F Kennedy International Airport in New York on November 16, after he received an 11-year jail sentence and spent nearly 6 months in prison in Myanmar. Fenster, the managing editor of Frontier Myanmar, was sentenced on November 12 for “multiple charges of incitement, unlawful association, and visa violations” and was “unjustly held for nearly six months,” the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) said in a press release. He was released after talks involving Bill Richardson, former New Mexico governor and US ambassador to the UN, who flew home with him. In this footage, filmed by Gypsy Guillén Kaiser for the CPJ, Fenster is seen greeting family members at the airport.
