Steam's Halloween, Autumn & Winter Sale Dates Revealed

The 2021 Steam sales for Halloween, Autumn, and Winter have been dated, with the first major discounts scheduled to go live in just a couple of days. Valve's Steam sales are a relatively common occurrence, but the seasonal discounts tend to attract the most attention. The 2020 Steam Winter Sale, for instance, proved especially momentous, given that titles such as Hades and Fall Guys went for as much as 20 percent off.

Last year's Halloween discounts weren't anything to scoff at, either. From October 29 through November 2, PC players could take advantage of deals on a wide variety of spooky titles, includes the likes of Control: Ultimate Edition, Dead by Daylight, and Resident Evil 7. And the Autumn Sale that followed proved lucrative for developers and publishers, especially compared to revenue earned in previous years. The then-ongoing coronavirus lockdowns paired with Black Friday and Cyber Monday overlap no doubt helped the Autumn Sale reach new heights.

Updates to Steam's Upcoming Steam Events page features specific dates for the platform's next set of "discount events." The Steam Halloween Sale kicks off on October 28 and ends on November 1. An Autumn Sale follows not too long thereafter, its runtime lasting from November 24 through November 30. Finally, the Steam Winter Sale begins later in the year on December 22, then concludes two weeks later on January 5. At the time of writing, the Steam page makes no mention of which deals will be included in each of the three events.

Since the Steam Halloween Sale starts in a couple of days, the wait for details concerning the discounted games will most assuredly surface very soon. Reason suggests 2021's biggest horror titles will receive discounts; thus, Steam users may want to be on the lookout for price cuts attached to Resident Evil Village, The Medium, Little Nightmares II, and perhaps even Days Gone.

Of course, Steam doesn't count as the only digital storefront that celebrates the season of horror. PlayStation Store's Halloween Sale is currently live, offering up to 70 percent off on dozens of titles until November 3. Outlast, several Resident Evil entries, and The Dark Pictures Anthology constitute but a few of the more notable sales items. Similarly, Xbox is hosting a Shocktober Sale that concludes on November 4; the discounted titles include everything from Batman: Arkham Knight and Little Nightmares II to BioShock: The Collection and The Medium.
