Smoke and Ash Spew From Flattened La Palma Volcano Cone

Lava continued to spew from the Cumbre Vieja volcano on La Palma on Friday, October 22; the molten rock had flowed across more than 886 hectares (about 3.3 square miles), according to Copernicus Emergency Management Service. The lava had destroyed more than 2,120 buildings by October 21, according to authorities.
