Christian Birkenberger and Alyssa Lopez have called it quits less than one week after reuniting following the finale of Big Brother 23. Christian and Alyssa were in a showmance while inside the Big Brother house together. Christian was evicted one week shy of jury while Alyssa came in seventh place. Because Christian did not make it to jury, the two did not reunite until after the finale last week.
Last Wednesday night, Xavier Prather was crowned the first Black winner of Big Brother. Throughout the duration of the season, Xavier was a part of the Cookout Alliance, which consisted of himself as well as Derek Fraizer, Kyland Young, Tiffany Mitchell, Hannah Chaddha and Azah Awasum. The group dominated the game while also successfully making it to the final six together. In addition to this, Xavier also worked closely with his former teammates, Christian and Alyssa. After winning the final Head of Household competition during the live finale, Xavier decided to evict Azah. This move ultimately secured him an unanimous win over Derek.

Although the pre-jury evictees were virtually present during the live finale, Christian flew out to Los Angeles, California to reunite with Alyssa, as well as the rest of the former houseguests, following the live show. Just 48 hours later, the former Big Brother showmance called it quits on their short lived relationship. On Saturday, October 2, Christian shared a cryptic tweet which implied he and Alyssa had broken up. The tweet (seen below) read, "What does Chrisalyss & Wet cement have in common…? It only lasts 48hrs ." Fans were instantly confused by the tweet, wondering whether it was real or if Christian's account had been hacked. Then, on Monday, October 4, Alyssa went live on her Instagram story during which she and Christian addressed their relationship as well as the skeptic tweet.
During the Instagram Live, Alyssa and Christian confirmed that they did in fact breakup; however, they are still friends. Upon reuniting on finale night, Christian had asked Alyssa to be his girlfriend. Just hours prior to this, he had shared his romantic plans with former Big Brother winners Cody Calafiore and Derrick Levasseur on their "Winners' Circle" podcast. Then, just 48 hours later, the two called it quits. Christian and Alyssa laughed together as Christian clarified, "Yeah, we dated for two days." Christian also assured fans that his Twitter account was not hacked. In fact, he and Alyssa put together the comical tweet together. As for where their relationship currently stands, Alyssa explained, "We are friends. We are just taking things slow."
Although many fans had high hopes for another successful Big Brother couple, that is unfortunately not going to be the case for Christian and Alyssa anytime soon. As the former showmance continues to take things slow, they are making up for lost time together in Florida as Alyssa takes Christian to all of her favorite hometown places. Despite no longer dating, Christian and Alyssa have managed to laugh about what occurred over the last week while also remaining close friends.
