The Bachelor franchise's Dean Unglert and Caelynn Miller-Keyes are spilling secrets about what goes on behind the scenes of Bachelor in Paradise. Dean, who originally appeared on Rachel Lindsay's season of The Bachelorette, and Caelynn, who first competed for Colton Underwood's heart, met on BIP season 6. While their relationship was full of ups and downs, with Dean originally leaving the beach on Caelynn's birthday and then coming back for her, the pair is still going strong today. From traveling around in Dean's van to settling down into a house together, Dean and Caelynn are one of the Bachelor couples that have actually stood the test of time.
They're also not the only ones to expose what's going on behind the cameras on BIP. Blake Horstmann, who rose to fame on Becca Kufrin's season and appeared on BIP, opened up about the influence producers have over cast members. According to Blake, producers have a box of gifts that contestants can choose from and give out to other people on the beach. He believes the necklace that Chasen Nick gave Deandra Kanu on the current season was set up by producers to cause drama. Based on how crazy things get in the world of The Bachelor, Blake's claims about producers may not be too far off.
Dean and Caelynn talked about everything from living amongst the crabs on the beach to which spin-off had the best living conditions. While Dean spoke about a "mythical creature," comparable to a monkey that could possibly also fly, that terrorized the cast and crew, Caelynn said her biggest fear was the crabs that resided in the shower. Even though they had some scary wildlife run-ins, one of their favorite things to do was hang out by the ocean and watch long-beaked birds kill the crabs. "That was our fun little thing to watch when we were bored," Caelynn told Us Weekly.
Dean not only took part in The Bachelorette and BIP, but he was also part of the Olympic spin-off, The Bachelor Winter Games. When ranking all of the shows he's been on, he said, "It goes Winter Games worst, Bachelor in Paradise beach second and then Bachelorette the best because you were moving around quite often, and the food is always really good." He also mentioned that, although cast members aren't allowed to bring phones with them, one of his friends that will remain nameless snuck an iPad into BIP. "I was like, ‘A) How are you connected to the internet? And B) How did you get this big iPad past all of the people that are, like, more or less checking your bag? And how often are you coming to the bathroom to just, like, sit on your iPad?’ A lot of questions," Dean said.
Bachelor in Paradise is arguably even more fun to watch than The Bachelor because of all the old cast members fans get to see again. It's interesting to hear Dean and Caelynn talk about all the behind-the-scenes secrets that the contestants experience while filming. Especially since they're one of the successful couples from the spin-off.
