10 Burning Questions We Have After Watching Season 3 Of Sex Education

Netflix's Sex Education returned for its much-anticipated season 3, and some fans have already binged all eight episodes. The show does a brilliant job juggling multiple storylines while still finding time to introduce new and timely topics, handling them with its unique brand of raunch of emotional depth.

Season 3 leaves several loose threads for a potential season 4. From unresolved relationships to lingering secrets and even uncertain educational futures, these characters will reach a breaking point in season 4, and fans can't wait to see what things await the students of the so-called "sex school."

10 Will The Groffs Get Back Together?

Michael and Maureen Groff had one of the show's most problematic relationships. He was cold and distant, arguably the worst parental figure in Sex Education. Maureen reaches a breaking point in season 2, separating from him and initiating divorce procedures.

Season 3 finds them in different places, but they reconnect and spend one night together. Michael gets some of the best character development in the season but still struggles to reach out to Adam. Season 4 will be pivotal for this couple, and Michael will need to go the extra mile to recover his family. He already opened up with Jean but needs to come clean with Maureen and Adam before they can take him back.

9 Will Jackson And Cal Become A Couple?

Season 3 introduces new character Cal and spends considerable time building their relationship with Jackson. The two have an undeniable connection, but Cal is non-binary, and Jackson has trouble accepting the idea of being in a queer relationship.

The season ends with the two as friends, but there are lingering feelings there. Season 4 will need to address their unresolved issues and possibly explore them as a couple. However, it might be wise to spend more time with Cal as an individual first. Their personal life was one of the storylines that didn't receive enough screentime in season 3.

8 Will Rahim Stay In The Picture?

Rahim arrived in season 2 as a love interest for Eric. The two dated for a while before Eric dumped him for Adam, leaving him brokenhearted and angry. Season 3 finds Rahim still mad but developing a feeble connection to Adam.

Considering Eric and Adam break up in the season finale, Rahim could conceivably get back together with Eric. He could also become more of a friend to Adam, especially now that the young Groff is at a crossroads in his life. Rahim could also stop appearing altogether, but he is an intriguing and compelling character, and getting rid of him would be a waste. Still, the show has a massive cast and multiple storylines to juggle, so fans will have to wait and see.

7 Will Hope Come Back To The Series?

Girls veteran Jemima Kirke is a new addition to the cast in season 3. She plays Hope Haddon, Moordale's new Head Teacher hellbent on restoring the school's reputation. The role could come off as a Dolores Umbridge rip-off, but Kirke exploits every last ounce of humanity in Hope, and fans can't help but sympathize with her.

Hope presumably loses her job after the students project a video proudly expressing their laid-back views on sexuality. It's unlikely she'll return as a regular in season 4, but the show might still feature her in some capacity. Hope might've been an antagonist, but she made for a perfect foil to the young cast, and it would be a shame to see her go.

6 How Will Aimee Spend Her Alone Time?

Aimee is not only Sex Education's most loveable character, but her arc is one of the most emotional in the show. After being sexually assaulted in season 2, she goes through a complex journey, navigating her feelings of fear and guilt with the help of her friends. In season 3, she's still dealing with the aftermath of the event, admitting that she wants to be alone to rediscover herself.

Season 3 ends with Aimee breaking up with her longtime boyfriend, Steve, and convincing Maeve to leave for America. Alone for the first time in ages, Aimee will have to use the time to reconnect with herself. Perhaps she will pursue her passion for baking, or maybe she'll find a new interest. Whatever the case, Aimee's new alone time opens a world of possibilities, and fans can't wait to see where her character goes.

5 How Will Eric Enjoy His Newfound Freedom?

After going through his own journey of self-discovery in season 1, Eric spent most of seasons 2 and 3 in relationships with two very different characters. However, it wasn't a perfect fit with either of them, and Eric finds himself alone at the end of season three.

As an out and proud young man, Eric is ready to explore his queer identity. Season four will surely be all about Eric learning more about his likes and dislikes and discovering new possibilities. Perhaps he'll try casual dating, or maybe he'll enter a relationship with someone else. Whatever he chooses, fans will dutifully follow because Eric is one of the best characters in Sex Education.

4 What Will Adam Do Next?

Adam possibly has the best arc out of any character in the show. He starts as a bully before revealing a new and vulnerable side to his personality. His relationship with Eric adds extra layers to his characterization, and season 3 confirms his place as one of the show's most relatable figures.

Throughout season 3, Adam pursuits new interests, including poetry and dog training. His passion is the latter, and he even enters a contest; he doesn't win but earns an honorable mention. The show reveals he has a talent for dog training, so season 4 might see him exploring it as a serious career. Adam is also very emotionally stunted, so his personal relationships with Ola, Michael, and maybe Rahim will be crucial for his journey.

3 Where Will The Students Finish Their Education?

Season 3 pulls a shocking twist by having Moordale sold to developers during the last episode. The students must find new alternatives to finish their high school education, leaving many with uncertain futures.

Season 4 will likely follow the main characters as they make arrangements to finish their studies. Some might have no problem switching schools, while others might not be so lucky and have to repeat the school year. This situation will make for a chaotic start of the season, and hilarity will surely ensue.

2 Who Is The Father Of Jean's Baby?

Jakob and Jean struggle with trust issues throughout season 3. At one point, he even asks her for a paternity test, unsure that he is the father of her child. As it turns out, his doubts weren't wrong; the show doesn't confirm it, but Jean's expression while reading the results implies that Jakob isn't the father of her child.

Now the question remains, who is the real father? Was it the dumb guy they met outside of the hospital or someone else? And will Jean tell Jakob right away or wait? Something like that could destroy their relationship for good, so this plot will most likely be the most dramatic of season four.

1 Will Otis And Maeve Ever Get Together?

Even though many people prefer Otis and Ruby, his relationship with Maeve remains Sex Education's most prominent romance. They have been in a will-they-won't-they dance for three seasons, and fans want them to either be together or separate for good.

Season 3 ends with yet another cliffhanger in their relationship after she leaves for America. They are aware of their feelings for each other, so there shouldn't be any reason why they can't begin a proper relationship upon her return. However, a million things can happen in the meantime, and the show does enjoy keeping them apart. Fans will have to wait and see how things develop, but the Otis and Maeve saga doesn't seem anywhere near done.
