Warning! Spoilers ahead for Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters: 4-LOM & Zuckuss #1
In the latest tie-in issue to Marvel Comics' new Star Wars crossover event, 4-LOM & Zuckuss #1 reveals the Star Wars equivalent of Rocket Raccoon. Taking place during the War of the Bounty Hunters, the dynamic bounty-hunting duo Zuckuss and 4-LOM were brutally defeated by Boba Fett in his quest to reclaim his bounty Han Solo from who was stolen from him while still encased in carbonite. Now, Zuckuss regroups on the planet Nar Shadaa as he plans to search for his partner he's been separated from, and it's here where readers are introduced to the furry criminal known as Trot.
Previously, it had been revealed that Jabba the Hutt put a bounty on Boba Fett's head due to his inability to deliver Han Solo as agreed. This was because Solo has been stolen by none other than the reborn crime syndicate Crimson Dawn, who sought to use the infamous smuggler as the ultimate bargaining chip in an auction to declare their return and intentions to the galaxy's underworld. As a result, Zuckuss and 4-LOM attempted to take Fett down and collect Jabba's bounty, though Boba proved to be too formidable, leaving Zuckuss for dead on Nar Shadaa while beheading 4-LOM and taking his droid head with him to Tatooine.
Now, Zuckuss is seen recovering in Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters: 4-LOM & Zuckuss #1 from writer Daniel Jose Older and artist Kei Zama. Seeking refuge in Jega's Music Hall and Petting Zoo, Zuckuss meets with an old contact named Trot, who looks everything like an eye-patched lemur. Not only that, but he carries an obsession with collecting others' limbs, a very familiar trait held by the likewise small and furry rogue Rocket Raccoon of the Marvel Universe.
As if those comparisons weren't enough, Trot also has a crew of allies who assemble to backup Zuckuss when a transformed and monstrously programmed 4-LOM arrives on Nar Shadaa to kill him, looking very much like a Star Wars-esque version of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Clearly, the similarities can't be a coincidence and have to be intentional on Older and Zama's part. Additionally, Trot and his partners help Zuckuss realize how much he truly valued his partnership with 4-LOM, especially now that it's in danger of being broken forever.
Likewise, the aftermath of Zuckuss' battle with 4-LOM revealed that his droid partner had been transformed and reprogrammed by a rival of theirs from an old mission who wanted revenge. Despite Zuckuss freeing 4-LOM from the programming 4-LOM still went off on his own in a confused state, sadly leaving Zuckuss alone. Regardless, it's very likely that Zuckuss will continue his efforts to reunite with 4-LOM in future issues, and it would be fun if Trot possibly came along as well. In any case, seeing this Rocket Raccoon equivalent in the Star Wars galaxy is a pretty fun addition to this new tie-issue for War of the Bounty Hunters.
