In a Twitter Q&A following this week's episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Erika Jayne confirmed that she will still be attending the reunion this season, despite her legal troubles and drama. This comes after another episode filled with tears and emotions surrounding Erika's divorce from ex Tom Girardi and the legal troubles the former couple has been going through, surrounding money and alleged theft. In this week's episode, Erika was seen opening up to co-stars Crystal Kung-Minkoff and Garcelle Beauvais, which Beauvais brought up again around the whole group, prompting a fight between the friends.
Erika has already addressed this event, stating that she does not blame Garcelle but rather the show's producers. Erika believes the conflict was escalated for the screen, with a mixture of production coaching Garcelle, and the editors rearranging clips to provide a storyline that villainized her. Co-star Lisa Rinna even reported that Erika fought with the producers behind the scenes, showing that there must really be some sort of conflict brewing between Erika and Bravo, a repeat of last season's production conflict with Denise Richards.
In an informal Q&A on Twitter late last night, Erika answered many questions, including one asking if she would be in attendance at the season's reunion. Her exact answer was "yes." She was also asked about her perseverance in staying on the show, to which she responded, "I didn’t want to quit because it got rough. Life is tough for everyone at some point. I would [have] let myself down by running away." It seems Erika is living by her own words and refusing to run away from her problems, instead confronting them on the TV screen.
Despite obvious manipulation by the cast and crew, Erika is still open and ready to attend the reunion. According to RHOBH star Erika, they've manipulated footage, thrown cast members under the bus and have proven themselves not to be trusted. So why is she trusting them to play her right in the reunion? Is this just the reality star pretending she has nothing to hide or is it her pride?
Fans had similar questions last season in regards to Denise's presence for the reunion. She, like Erika, had also spent much of the second half of the season fighting with production, whom she saw as portraying a story coming out about her unfairly. In frustration with her inability to control her narrative, she left the show but still attended the reunion. This did not bode well for Denise, whose defensiveness and unwillingness to answer certain questions did more to incriminate her than clear her name. Erika's arc this season is already heading in similar directions to Denise's, so it may be shocking to some that she is opening herself up to similar treatment as that of her former co-star. But as she said in her Q&A, she's not going to let herself run away, even as things get rough for her.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Wednesdays at 8pm on Bravo.
