Zacian will be added to raid battles in Pokemon Go. The game continues to add new legendary Pokemon when a brand new region debuts within the game. Earlier this year, players were introduced to Xerneas and Yveltal, the legendary Pokemon of Pokemon X and Y. In a surprising turn of events, Niantic is skipping over the next region, Alola, and heading right towards Galar. This is part of the Pokemon Go Ultra Unlock event that will take place during the final 2 weeks of August. During this period, players will be able to find Zacian and Zamazenta from Pokemon Sword and Shield, the most recent mainline entry in the series. Zacian will make an appearance in 5-star raid battles so players will need to defeat it in order to capture it.
Whenever players take on raid battles, regardless of their level, they should aim to have a group of at least 5 other players present. A group with any less might make the battle too difficult, and the timer can possibly run out. Although, with the release of the new legendary Pokemon, lobbies are typically full of eager trainers looking to get their piece of the pie. Here is how players can find and capture Zacian.
Zacian will be added to the game beginning on Friday, August 20th to Thursday, August 26th. What makes this Pokemon difficult to determine which counters to bring, is the fact that it's unknown which form it will take. In Pokemon Sword and Shield, its form is dependent if it has its trusty sword equipped, turning it from a Fairy to a Fairy/Steel-type. Here are some of the best counters to bring along for this battle.
- Mega Charizard Y: Fire Spin and Blast Burn.
- Reshiram: Fire Fang and Overheat.
- Chandelure: Incinerate and Overheat.
- Darmanitan: Fire Fang and Overheat.
- Moltres: Fire Spin and Overheat.
- Entei: Fire Fang and Overheat.
It will likely claim its sword since it's the most iconic look for the Pokemon. Unless Niantic decides to introduce the concept of Held Items into the game. Zacian will only be available for a single week, so players should pay close attention when it arrives. It will be replaced with Zamazenta the following week, which comes along with its own set of challenges.
Pokemon Go is available now on iOS and Android.
