A trailer for What If…? showcases a new look at the Destroyer. After Sylvie seemingly started a multiversal war by killing the Kang variant known as He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) in the season 1 finale of Loki, What If…? will now explore the vast possibilities of the multiverse in depth. Given this primary focus and the fact that it’s animated, Marvel Studios’ fourth series on Disney+ is guaranteed to deviate heavily from what’s come before it.
The animated medium also allowed some of the most prominent actors from the MCU to return and voice their respective characters. Based on the comics' storyline of the same name, What If…? will revisit pivotal moments from the Infinity saga and ask its titular question. Hayley Atwell returns to voice Peggy Carter, who takes the super-soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers, becoming Captain Carter. In his final role, Chadwick Boseman returns to voice T'Challa not as Black Panther, but as Star-Lord, Peter Quill’s (Chris Pratt) role in Guardians of the Galaxy.
The latest promo for Marvel’s upcoming series comes by way of an exclusive look from ET. Featuring Jeffrey Wright as the Watcher, who narrates not only the trailer but the series as a whole, the promotional video showcases What If…?’s various alternate timelines, “familiar faces in unfamiliar roles,” as Wright’s Watcher puts it. Eagle-eyed viewers might also notice a brief glimpse of the Destroyer at the end of the trailer, which flashes by almost too quickly for it to even register. Watch the new trailer below:

The Destroyer was first introduced to the MCU in 2011’s Thor as the giant suit of armor that Loki brings to life to wreak havoc on Earth. During the final climactic battle, the God of Thunder can finally wield Mjölnir and defeat the Destroyer, but not without the Asgardian automaton putting up a formidable fight. The Destroyer won't be the only MCU villain returning in What If…?, as Josh Brolin is back as the voice of Thanos. Merch suggests that Ultron will return as well, but James Spader’s involvement hasn’t been confirmed.
Since last winter, What If…?’s marketing campaign has been the gift that keeps on giving. The first look premiered during Disney's investor day and the second trailer came last month. Since then, Marvel has released a few supplementary 30-second teasers, one revealing a look at another villain in Shuma-Gorath. One thing is clear: there will be no shortage of alternate realities or villains when What If…? premieres a week from now on August 11.
