Aladdin star Mena Massoud becomes an adult Ezra Bridger in new Star Wars fan art. For years, the characters created specially for animated Star Wars shows The Clone Wars and Rebels have remained separate from the live-action side of the franchise. However, that began to change last year with The Mandalorian season 2, which saw Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) make appearances. The creation of a spin-off centered around Ahsoka has further suggested that more animated Star Wars characters will receive new stories on Disney+.
A popular character fans wish to see in live-action form is Rebels' Ezra Bridger. The series centered on Ezra when he was a teen and first joined the Jedi Order as the apprentice of Kanan Jarrus. Though Rebels concluded in 2018, a good chunk of Ezra's story has remained a mystery, as in the final episode, Ezra disappeared with villain Grand Admiral Thrawn. With Ahsoka getting her own live-action show, reports have persisted that Ezra is on the way as well, and that he could be played by Massoud.
With the rumors of Massoud being considered for the role of Ezra only heating up, new fan art has imagined what the actor could look like as the onetime Jedi Padawan. Over the weekend, artist Mizuri shared an image of Massoud in a familiar orange flight suit, green lightsaber in hand. Though his casting is far from confirmed, it's hard not to feel excited at the mere idea of the Aladdin actor wielding that weapon. Check it out below.

It's important to mention that there's no guarantee Ezra will appear in a live-action Star Wars show. However, Ahsoka mentioned Thrawn on The Mandalorian, indicating she's looking for him. It would then make sense that she's still on her Rebels journey of searching for Ezra as well, which would pave the way for him to appear on Ahsoka. Massoud certainly fits the part physically, and it would be exciting to see him tackle the character for Star Wars.
Though official sources have yet to comment on the possibility of Massoud playing Ezra, the actor himself appeared to hint at it in a social media post earlier this year. This came just months after The Haunting of Bly Manor's Rahul Kohli ceased joking about his own interest in the role of Ezra Bridger. The path seems clear for Massoud to pick up the lightsaber in a future Star Wars project, but fans will have to wait for an official confirmation before they can start calling him their Ezra.
