Making it through to the very end of Ender Lilies is by no means an easy feat. During the course of this Metroidvania the player will have to go up against many powerful creatures and enemies that will test all of their skills. Then there are the bosses at the end of the levels that are capable of bringing a player down in just a few hits if they aren't careful. Those who want to see the end have to stay on their toes.
Those who do make it to the very end though will then find themselves having to go up against one of the deadliest foes in the entire game: The Blighted Lord. The Blighted Lord is the final boss of Ender Lilies and he won't let the player forget that fact with his huge amount of health, vast array of deadly abilities, and very high damage output. This guide shows players how to bring down The Blighted Lord in both of his forms.
Depending on what actions the player has done before the end of Ender Lilies they may have to fight The Blighted Lord twice in a row. This part of the guide will show players how to defeat the boss in his first form before moving on to the second form. Before attempting this fight the player will want to ensure that they bring their strongest abilities with them into the fight. Here are some of the skills the player will want to make sure they have with them:
- Gerrod- This will allow the player to use their strong hammer attack to dish out some damage against The Blighted Lord. This will be the player's main melee attack.
- Knight Captain Julius- Another great melee ability that allows the player to hit The Blighted Lord from a medium-range, but also boosts the player's dash ability for avoiding damage.
- Western Merchant- By activating this ability the player is able to summon a crow that fires projectiles at The Blighted Lord. A great way to keep up the damage even while avoiding attacks.
There are also a few different relics that the player should equip:
- The Priestess Items- Any of the Priestess relics are ideal because each one will grant an additional use of the Healing Prayer ability.
- Weathered Necklace- An excellent item that will allow the player to gain some health by killing enemies. Perfect for when The Blighted Lord summons mobs.
- Ancient Dragon Claw- This boosts attacks that are made while airborne, which the player will have to do fairly often if they want to hit The Blighted Lord's weakpoint.
During this fight, the player really won't be able to parry The Blighted Lord's attacks because of how large and powerful the boss is. Instead, the player will spend the majority of this fight running away from The Blighted Lord's attacks instead. The trick is to keep abilities like Western Merchant going in order to deal constant damage to the boss and then wait for The Blighted Lord to attack. When he uses his smash attack the player can dodge out of the way and then jump up and use one of their melee attacks on the large red heart in the middle of the boss. If The Blighted Lord only slams one arm on the ground this will shoot out some spikes that the player can once again jump over and then deal melee damage to it again pretty easily. The biggest attack to look out for though is when the boss screams and a black hole-looking thing appears around its chest. The player will need to run away as quickly as possible before this explodes and deals a huge amount of damage to the player.
Eventually, this tough-to-kill boss will summon a bunch of fish monsters to attack the player, but this is actually a blessing in disguise. The player can jump up in the air and use the Gerrod ability a couple of times to kill these mobs, and thanks to the Weathered Necklace this will heal the player considerably. The rest of the fight just becomes a dance of dodging The Blighted Lord's wide-reaching attacks and hitting its heart whenever possible to deal huge amounts of damage. As soon as the player can build up their SP meter all the way they should then use Julius' Last Rites in order to completely decimate The Blighted Lord and hopefully finish off his first form.
Unless players explored the world entirely and completed a few side objectives, their game may just end with that first The Blighted Lord form. However, if the player pursues all of the Stone Tablets and then acquires the Aegis Curios they will be able to face off against The Blighted Lord more powerful second form. After collecting the necessary artifacts the player can then equip the Aegis Curio before going into the fight against The Blighted Lord and then defeat him. Once this has been done the player is given the opportunity to purify his fallen corpse, but rather than ending the game like normal this instead revives the boss. This time he is stronger than before and has a couple of extra tricks up his sleeve.
There are a couple of new attacks that The Blighted Lord adds to his arsenal that players should be aware of:
- Rain of Fire- This ability can actually cause a lot of trouble for players if they aren't careful. Essentially The Blighted Lord now summons a series of massive deadly fireballs that will fall from the sky. These fireballs fall very slowly, which makes avoiding them fairly easy, but it makes avoiding The Blighted Lord's other attacks simultaneously pretty tricky. Remember not to jump over an incoming attack if there is a fireball above.
- Hand Clap- The Blighted Lord will spread his arms out wide before slamming them together in a large clap. Players who don't get out of the way of this will get slammed together to cause a huge amount of damage.
Other than this The Blighted Lord keeps all of the same abilities and powers as before they just deal more damage than before. The player should continue using the same strategy as before of jumping over incoming attacks to hit The Blighted Lord in his weak point and moving away to avoid the more powerful attacks. Additionally, powerful ranged abilities are still a great way to keep the damage up even when it isn't possible to get in close to attack. Don't forget to use Julius' Last Rites to really knock down The Blighted Lord's health, and don't get too aggressive or it can be hard to see what attacks the boss is planning on using next. Once The Blighted Lord drops below 25% health he will become permanently stunned, which will allow the player to swoop in and finish him off for good.
Ender Lilies can be played on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
