This eliminates the possibility of Battlefield 2042 launching with a retired game mode. It will instead act as a completely new experience designed for fans of the franchise. Despite the current popularity surrounding battle royale modes in first-person shooters, Battlefield 2042 will not have a battle royale. DICE has some experience adapting hero-like characters from their work in Battlefront 2, meaning that their team would certainly be a good choice for a hero mode.
All the details about Battlefield 2042's mystery mode will likely be revealed at the EA Play Live Event on July 22nd, a little over a month away. While there is only speculation about this unknown mode, Battlefield 2042 is shaping up to be a memorable experience for fans of the shooter genre. Battlefield 2042 is set to release October 22nd, 2021 for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
