Bethesda Game Studios didn't only announce Starfield details during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, the studio also unveiled a brief look at the Expeditions: The Pitt DLC for Fallout 76. The online-centric Fallout title has come a long way since its reveal three years ago at E3 2018 and its subsequent release that fall.
As many a fan can attest, Fallout 76 stumbled out of the gate, enduring a launch period scarred by game-breaking glitches and a disappointing lack of worthwhile content. Bethesda Game Studios has gone to great lengths to right the course, though. The roll out of the Wastelanders expansion in early 2020 specifically marked a turning point, thanks in large part to the introduction of fully voiced NPCs. A fresh main storyline, new enemies, and additional weapons entered the mix as well, and Bethesda wasted no time in promising that even more exciting content updates were on the horizon.
One such update received the spotlight during this year's Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. On an unspecified date in 2022, fans will have the option to explore Expeditions: The Pitt, a DLC offering that takes players beyond the confines of Fallout 76's West Virginia map for the first time. The Pitt should sound familiar to Fallout faithful who spent time traversing the ruins of Fallout 3's Pittsburgh setting. According to a post featured on Bethesda.net, the Pennsylvanian locale plays host to "mutated monstrosities" and several other threats that Fallout 76 users can expect to see firsthand next year. Get a glimpse of what awaits in The Pitt in the following teaser trailer:
As noted above, Bethesda doesn't plan on abandoning Fallout 76 anytime soon. And news of this nature indicates the multiplayer-focused experience still has plenty of life left in it. The Expeditions: The Pitt reveal noticeably lacked concrete details, though, so exactly Bethesda plans on sharing more remains to be seen.
Bethesda Game Studios wasn't the only Bethesda Softworks team to take center stage, either. For instance, the crew at Arkane Austin revealed a brand-new project, Redfall, which will see the studio take its hallmark shooting experiences to an online space filled with mysterious vampires and other types of horrors.
Fallout 76 is available to play now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S; The Pitt content will launch on an unspecified date in 2022.
