The project was first announced in April 2014, and production began in January 2020. Production was halted in March 2020 when Hanks and his wife, Rita, announced they had tested positive for COVID-19. The movie was originally expected for a 2021 release, but is not one of the Warner Bros. movies releasing on HBO Max. After many delays, Warner Bros. Pictures announced that Elvis will release on June 3, 2022.

Pinocchio is an upcoming live-action/CGI adaption of the 1940 film of the same name by Walt Disney Pictures. Pinocchio is a musical fantasy film telling the story of Geppetto (Tom Hanks), a lonely wood-carver, and the titular character Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth), a wooden puppet carved by Geppetto. When Pinocchio is turned into a living puppet by The Blue Fairy (Cynthia Erivo), he embarks on a journey to become a real boy, with the help of a father-like figure in Geppetto, and Pinocchio's "conscience" Jiminy Cricket (Joseph Gordon-Levitt).

The live-action adaptation of Pinocchio was announced by Walt Disney Pictures on April 8, 2015, becoming one of Disney’s many live-action remakes in development. After being in early discussion to play the role of Geppetto, Tom Hanks reached out to director Robert Zemeckis for the role, being that the two have worked together in some of Hanks' greatest films, Forrest Gump, Cast Away, and The Polar Express. On December 9, 2020, Walt Disney Pictures announced that Pinocchio will debut exclusively on Disney+, but no release date has been announced.

With a full schedule ahead for himself, Tom Hanks is sure to add to his already long list of iconic performances. Every time there is an upcoming Tom Hanks movie, the world is watching with eagerness and excitement for the movie's debut. This is a trend that will not be ending in the near future.
