90 Day Fiancé: Andrei's Reasons For Real Estate Career & Loan Explained

Season six star of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? and Elizabeth Potthast’s husband Andrei Castravet is being dragged for his sudden interest in real estate and $100,000 loan request from Chuck Potthast. But as per the Moldova native, he does have a plan on how to use Chuck’s loan wisely. While TLC viewers were initially upset with Andrei and Elizabeth being cast on HEA again, they were happy to see Andrei return to work after being a homebody for three years.

On 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season five, Andrei faced more flak than ever because of his traditional views on gender roles and being a stay-at-home dad. During a heated argument between Andrei and Elizabeth’s families in Moldova, the former detective also insisted his wife wanted him to stay at home. “That’s not the man that I married,” Libby told the cameras, admitting Andrei has “gotten a little too comfortable.” Fans agreed with Libby, who saw Andrei, having worked as a bouncer, handyman, and truck driver before, laying the burden of finances on his wife’s shoulders. However, the criticism seems to have gotten to Andrei, who secured a real estate license in the time off between 90 Day Fiancé seasons.

Convinced that he’ll be real estate royalty in no time, the HEA season 6 premiere had Andrei approach Potthast patriarch Chuck for a loan, which he unsurprisingly denied. Still, he offered that Andrei work in the field with the Potthast family. If he did well, Chuck might reconsider the loan at a later date. While Andrei may not have thought his pitch through, he revealed his real reason for meeting Chuck to Us Weekly. “Well, the thing is, he helped all his kids. He gave them capital to start working and they’re all working over there sucking from the pie so I’m just going to join in. Like, why not?” said the 90 Day Fiancé star.

His initial plan having been to flip houses, Andrei shared that he pursued his new career path because he “wanted money.”  He went on to say that, after Libby pressuring him to get out of the house, real estate seemed like the best option. The 90 Day Fiancé star confessed, “money motivates me" and claimed there's a lot of money to be had in real estate. While the career path he has chosen is “not so easy” to get into, he has put all his trust into his father-in-law, who Andrei hopes is willing to help.

Andrei also explained that his relationship with his 90 Day Fiancé father-in-law has improved. “My relationship with my father-in-law is OK,” added Andrei, while asserting that, even though they’ve been through some rough times, he “would not say that it’s bad.” While he's counting on help from Chuck, he's also relying on Libby's real estate expertise. With the two of them working together, it's possible their business could be a true success.
