Two And A Half Men: 10 Storylines The Show Dropped | ScreenRant

CBS' Two and a Half Men is one of the most popular sitcoms in television history, and it sticks out among the rest for its hilarious and cringy adult content and beloved but often horrible characters. As the series went on season after season, it was bound to fall victim to some sitcom failures - including the expected trope of some long-lost storylines.

From relationships to careers to entire characters, there are some storylines that this show just dropped out of thin air. It's time to reflect back on them, so fans can remember and wonder, what would have happened with that plot.

10 Alan & Judith

There was a lot of time dedicated to the horrible relationship Alan had with his ex-wife, Judith. There was alimony, hate, and childcare arguments. However, there were also a lot of times that the two 'got back together.'

There was even an ongoing joke (and in all seriousness) that Judith's new baby was actually Alan's, and not her husband Herb's. However, that storyline also just kind of dropped off the deep end.

9 Kandi & Lyndsey

Fans might have totally forgotten that this even happened, and it was because it was literally never brought up again. At the end of an episode in season 10, Lyndsey and Kandi are shown in bed together - implying they had slept together.

While Alan was married to Kandi and went on to have an on-and-off relationship with Lyndsey, it seems super bizarre that this moment was just never spoken of or alluded to again. It may have just been for a joke, but it's still out of place.

8 Alan's Retirement

Alan struggles with money for the entire series. However, at one point, he finally realizes that he can retire - after receiving enough money from his mother. However, he still struggles in later seasons, and it's just never really talked about.

Alan doesn't work and somehow has no money. His retirement and the money from his mother are both just never discussed ever again. Plus, this dropped storyline really leads to it making no sense for Walden to let Alan just live in his house.

7 Jake Harper - In His Entirety

There are lots of fans that are a bit confused why the show even kept its original title, especially after there was really only Alan remaining. There was Charlie and no 'half-man,' which was Alan's son: Jake Harper. He was literally one of the three main parts of the show.

When the actor, Angus T. Jones, left the show, they kind of also just forgot his character ever existed. This lovable and mischievous son was mentioned and appeared every now and then for a while, but then it was almost like he never existed.

6 Jenny As Charlie's Daughter

Obviously, the reason Alan and Walden take Jenny in is that she's the daughter of Charlie. However, this doesn't really make a whole lot of sense for Walden - who is apparently just way too generous to the Harper family.

In terms of storyline, though, Jenny just becomes a regular - and Charlie is rarely (if ever) mentioned. She does allude to being like her dad, but this joke is quickly dropped, and Charlie being her father has absolutely no impact on the show.

5 Walden's Ex-Wife

Bridget Schmidt appears in multiple episodes, and there's a lot of drama for fans to keep straight. Walden and her divorce, and then somehow Bridget ends up having a fling with his business partner and is helping Walden's mother sue him.

Not only is the actress (Judy Greer) also actually Herb's sister in earlier seasons, but her role as Bridget also just randomly fizzles out. She last appears in season 10 in a hallucination and is just never really mentioned again.

4 Charlie's Entire Career

Charlie Harper is wealthy because he writes jingles. There are definitely episodes in the earlier seasons where Charlie is shown doing this, and no one will ever forget the episode about Charlie Waffles. However, beyond this, it goes nowhere.

Charlie still plays the piano, but there's really no mention of him working or writing any more jingles - ever. It just isn't a thing in the middle seasons, and somehow Charlie still has a bunch of money and no worries about his financials.

3 Walden's Adopted Son

There's a large portion of the final seasons dedicated to Walden finally adopting a child. He and Alan get to adopt Louis, who lives with them and begins to build a relationship. However, he's not in the finale.

Not only is Louis not in the finale, but he also isn't even mentioned. It's almost like he just entirely vanished! For the title of the show, and the time dedicated to them getting Louis into their home, this was a strange plot-line to just forget about in the finale of this hit series.

2 Alan & Walden's Marriage

These two really only got married so they could adopt a child, but it still is definitely one plot that just randomly vanished and was never really spoken of again. It was sudden, strange, and then it was like it never happened.

They divorced pretty abruptly and then just started dating women again. The whole fiasco with the social worker was one thing, but then, it was like the whole marriage AND adoption just never occurred - or even ever mattered.

1 Alan As The Sweet Guy

Alan starts off the series as a guy in a tough place, and he actually warrants a lot of sympathy from fans of the show. He's on hard times and counts on his brother when he has nothing left. However, Alan becomes a pretty horrendous character.

He mooches off them and becomes hateful towards Charlie when he feels like he isn't an "equal" member of the house. Then when Walden moves on, Alan just gets worse and worse. He uses him, and gains no pity from fans. His character arc was a weird and forgotten storyline.
