Master of None is coming back for a third season with a release date just around the corner. The Netflix comedy follows the journey of struggling actor, Dev Shah, played by Aziz Ansari, who co-created the series alongside Alan Yang. The series also stars Eric Wareheim, Kelvin Yu, and Lena Waithe as Dev's friends, with Noël Wells and Alessandra Mastronardi playing Dev's romantic interests. The show became a critical and audience favorite with Ansari winning a Golden Globe Award for acting and two Emmy Awards for writing. The second season last aired in 2017, with Ansari skeptical of a third season at that time.
Now according to Slashfilm, news of the third season has been released and will come sooner than expected, much to the delight of fans. Netflix has released a list of programs arriving next month in May and Master of None is a part of that list. Beyond that, there is no additional information regarding the third season such as the storyline or the actual release date. However, the show did start filming this season in London back in January and originally started shooting last year before the arrival of the pandemic.
The second season of the show ended on an open note with Dev and his love interest, Francesca, lying on a bed together, looking at each other with unease and Francesca was seen not wearing a ring after getting engaged to her boyfriend. The third season will likely address the events following that. When the second season was released, Ansari stated that changes had to be made in his personal life for him to ponder another season, so fans will see how that will be implemented in the upcoming third season of Master of None.
