Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Multiplayer Free to Play For Five Days

From now until April 28, players on all platforms can dive into Season 3 of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's multiplayer suite. This free access week could not have gone live at a better time, considering yesterday's launch of Black Ops Cold War Season 3.

A whole host of content is coming throughout Season 3; notably, players are gaining access to new Operators, such as Knight and the previously leaked Wraith - both of whom serve as members of an antagonistic intelligence organization known as Perseus. Fan-favorite character Captain Price is also joining the fight in the latest season for all who own the base game. Of course, additional weapons are entering the mix, including the AMP63 pistol, CARV.2 tactical rifle, Swiss K31 sniper rifle, and the old school Black Ops Ballistic Knife. Plus, Season 3 introduced weapon unlock challenges to BOCW's Zombies mode. Newcomers who decide to give the multiplayer a try during the free access trial will, thus, have plenty to explore.

Starting today, players across all platforms can join Season 3 of Black Ops Cold War via free access that ends on April 28 at 10:00 am PT. A post on the Call of Duty blog outlines what to expect from the five-day offering, which includes playlists like Multi-Team Moshpit, Nuketown 24/7, and 3v3 Faceoff. Classics such as Domination and Team Deathmatch are available during the free access period, as well. The trial additionally boasts BOCW's newly released Yamantau and Diesel multiplayer maps, alongside the Stick and Stones party mode and all of the latest Outbreak content.

Again, the free access days are perfectly timed for the recent advent of Black Ops Cold War's third season of multiplayer content. Players interested in the regularly updated online experience would do well to try it out over the course of the next five days.

Activision launched its latest Call of Duty entry last fall in mid-November. As is always the case with the franchise's new entries, this release continues to perform exceptionally well on the market. In fact, it's doing so well that the publisher recently confirmed the COD property's lifetime sales have officially topped 400 million units sold.
