All L.A. Noire & Max Payne 3 DLC Is Now Free On PC | Screen Rant

In a random surprise, Rockstar Games has made all L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3 DLC free on PC. No official reason has been given as to why, but it seems that the DLCs have been directly added into the game via a new patch instead of being made available to download through the store page.

The news follows a bizarre incident the other day when Rockstar delisted all of its games on Steam for a brief period of time. No one really knows what happened, but it's possible that in an effort to make changes to the DLC for L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3, a mistake was made which somehow just removed everything altogether. This is, granted, a considerably bold assumption to make, and while there's no substantial evidence to support this theory, there's also no word from Rockstar.

Either way, Rockstar removed all of the Steam store page listings for Max Payne 3 and L.A. Noire's DLC on purpose. New patch notes for both games confirm that they've been integrated into the game directly instead of left as standalone downloads. Both games are roughly a decade old so, outside of when L.A. Noire was remastered, these are some of the only patch notes the games have received in years.

It's not clear exactly what led to Rockstar making these random changes, but some have speculated that this could be for ease of use with the company's own launcher on PC. Given that the DLCs are still premium add-ons on consoles, it seems likely that this could be the case. Beyond the patch notes, Rockstar hasn't said anything more about these new changes. Given the fact that Rockstar has only made two brand-new games in the last 8 years, Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, it seems unlikely this shift could be preparing for sequel announcements for either title. The studio's history suggests that Rockstar is moving away from smaller titles like these.

Nonetheless, fans want to see the DNA of games like Max Payne 3 in GTA 6 and there is hope that perhaps, after Rockstar finishes up work on the next installment of its massively popular crime series, that it'll revisit these other IPs. After all, it seems a bit too soon for a new Red Dead Redemption and perhaps it would be far less time consuming to do a linear game like Max Payne or more creatively fulfilling to do something like L.A. Noire, which is a sharp contrast to its other franchises.
