2006's The Da Vinci Code is a gripping movie that pushes religion and the hidden meaning of symbols, using intelligence and smart writing to take the Dan Brown novel and bring it to life in the best way possible. The movie features great elements of mystery, with 'The Teacher' being an unknown character for large portions of the plot.
Meanwhile, there's action, fantastic dialogue and character development, and elements of eerieness when it comes to Silas' character, often working in the night. While the movie has had sequels, which are obviously enjoyable to go and watch after this, what other movies should fans of The Da Vinci Code check out, and where can they be found?
10 Prisoners - Available To Stream On Hulu
One of the biggest aspects of The Da Vinci Code that people enjoy is the mystery. Audiences are hooked on wanting to know the answers as to who is behind the murder, or who 'The Teacher' is, and why they're connected to everything. That is why Prisoners would be a great movie for them to watch.
This focuses on a father after his young daughter is kidnapped, and he stops at nothing to get her back. It has slightly darker elements with torture being involved as he looks for answers, but there's plenty of twists and turns along the way as he goes rogue and starts his own detective work against the police.
9 National Treasure - Available To Stream On Disney Plus
Another great movie that's full of mystery and adventure is National Treasure. While it's slightly less serious or complex as The Da Vinci Code, and it isn't all about religious symbols, the movie does utilize puzzles and clues in the same way.
This movie follows an archaeologist as he aims to find a treasure chest of riches that had been hidden from the past, and clues and hints are needed to find that. While it is a little faster-paced, this one feels like a cross between Indiana Jones and The Da Vinci Code, and the adventure makes it one that fans should enjoy.
8 The Order - Available To Rent On Amazon Prime
One of the biggest elements of The Da Vinci Code that makes it such an intriguing movie is the manner in which religion ties into things. For those that enjoy that aspect of the story, then The Order would be a great movie to view.
This one focuses on a priest that has to investigate a murder when a member of a secret Order mysteriously dies. There are inner politics and plenty of secrets throughout this movie.
7 Bridge Of Spies - Available To Rent On Amazon Prime
One of the greatest aspects of The Da Vinci Code is simply the performance of Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon. He does an amazing job in the lead role, and anybody who enjoys his performance in that would appreciate Bridge Of Spies.
Hanks once again steps into the lead role in another tense movie that features gripping dialogue and a difficult situation. Here he works as James Donovan where he has to negotiate a deal to exchange a spy for a US pilot, risking his own life based on the trust he builds up.
6 Sherlock Holmes - Available To Stream On Netflix
Sherlock Holmes is one of the most iconic characters of all time, and Robert Downey Jr. brings him to life fantastically in this 2009 mystery adventure. As is always the case with this detective, he and John Watson are searching to uncover a potentially dangerous threat, using clues and their intelligence to work it out.
While there's a little more action in this movie, the genius of the characters and the manner in which they break things down should feel familiar to The Da Vinci Code fans, which would make it an enjoyable movie to watch.
5 Zodiac - Available To Stream On Amazon Prime
This movie is a lot darker in its town due to the nature of the content, focusing on the Zodiac serial killer. Here, Robert, who is a cartoonist, ends up becoming engrossed in the case due to his ability to work out the puzzles that the killer is leaving behind.
While it is different in its approach, both movies are intense and firmly focused on the mystery element. With various characters providing their opinions on how to handle things, which is the case on what should be done with the Holy Grail in The Da Vinci Code.
4 Red Dragon - Available To Stream On HBO Max
The focus on symbols and breaking down what they mean is a crucial part of The Da Vinci Code, and that is the same with Red Dragon. This movie is a lot scarier and more serious, leaning more towards the genre of horror, however, there are still clear links that fans would enjoy.
The chase of an FBI Agent attempting to catch a serial killer is similar to how the detectives are desperately seeking Robert and Sophie throughout The Da Vinci Code, and the tense nature of the entire story is gripping to watch.
3 The Game - Available To Stream On IMDB TV
When it comes to thrillers, few are as enjoyable as The Game, which will have audiences gripped from the start, much like The Da Vinci Code. This movie follows Nicholas Van Orton, who is given a mysterious voucher for a game on his birthday, setting up a puzzle throughout the movie.
He has to go through the puzzle trying to work out what the purpose of the world is and what it means. But it is through the puzzles that these two movies have such a familiar feel.
2 Memento - Available To Stream On Tubi TV
Another terrific mystery movie that fans would like is Memento, which has a large focus on clues and has its own unique twist in the fact that the movie takes place backward, unraveling as it goes along. The lead character here suffers from amnesia and because of that, he uses notes and tattoos on his own body to remind himself of things each day.
His aim is to track down the person who killed his wife and the manner in which it takes place is creative. The changes and unpredictable nature of the movie are what make it so similar to The Da Vinci Code.
1 Gone Girl - Available To Stream On Hulu
Much like The Da Vinci Code, Gone Girl is another book adaptation and its one that is filled with mystery and constant changes and surprises that keep people on edge throughout. It's next to impossible to predict what is going to happen.
Initially, Nick Dunne spends his time worried, trying to find his missing wife. However, it quickly becomes clear there is more at play within this story, with Amy having her own reasons for vanishing. This is similar to the characters in The Da Vinci Code, and the serious nature of both movies makes them similar in tone.
