Chris Williams and Paige Banks have only just said their vows on Married at First Sight, but they're already sparking pregnancy rumors. However, the baby in question may not be Chris and Paige's. Fans are convinced that Chris's very recent ex-fiancée is currently carrying his child.
Chris and Paige were matched by the Married at First Sight experts due to their shared religious beliefs and their successful career trajectories. While Chris appreciated the fact that Paige was his perfect match "on paper," he confessed that he was "not 100% attracted to her." Paige's friends and Married at First Sight fans alike became concerned when they learned that Chris was engaged only a few months prior to getting married to Paige on the show. Teasers for the rest of MAFS season 12 show a potential pregnancy storyline surrounding Chris and Paige's marriage.
Now, rumors are circulating that Chris's ex-fiancée Mercedes Myrick is the one who is currently pregnant with his child. According to Distractify, Chris and Mercedes began dating in October 2019 and became engaged in February 2020. Even though the Married at First Sight casting process began in March 2020, screenshots from Mercedes' mother's Facebook reveal that Chris and Mercedes were still together in late June 2020. During that month, they became infected with COVID-19 and quarantined together. Paige and Chris's wedding was filmed only two months later, in August 2020, leading fans to believe that he left his fiancée in order to star on Married at First Sight. While Mercedes has not explicitly confirmed or denied the rumors, she posted a Facebook status that seemed to allude to the situation: "Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear... prob[ably] a good thing to ask questions before jumping to conclusions."
Chris and Paige have expressed their willingness to try for a "honeymoon baby," but their issues surrounding intimacy may mean that the alleged baby in question is not Paige's. Paige told Chris's family that although they had been intimate the night of (and the morning after) their wedding, Chris confessed to her that he was not physically attracted to her. After Chris's family (he has a dad who's been called "creepy") discussed his disrespectful behavior towards Paige with him, he took his frustrations out on his new wife.
After their explosive fight the day following their wedding, Paige and Chris appeared to be on the same page with regard to working on their marriage. They went into their Las Vegas honeymoon with high hopes for their relationship. However, Chris has received intense backlash from Married at First Sight fans on social media. These viewers hope that Paige takes his red flags to heart and divorces him by the end of the season.
