There are many Netflix originals that have come up in recent times, turning the streaming service into a must-have platform with a near-limitless number of shows that would pique anyone's interests at this point. One such exclusive show that has broken new ground to become one of the most popular series on the platform is none other than Netflix's Stranger Things, a show that looks at the twisted world of the paranormal and brings it to life in a way that is incredibly enthralling and unique.
One of the biggest draws of Stranger Things is definitely its wide cast of well-liked characters, all of whom have managed to become household names by portraying realistic depictions of individuals with both good qualities and irksome flaws.
10 Joyce Byers — Extremely Protective; Too Overprotective
After her son gets trapped in the Upside Down, Joyce Byers shows viewers what it really means to be a protective mother.
There are times when this behavior can get somewhat overbearing at times... but — more often than not — her protective nature is generally for the greater good.
9 Jim Hopper — Dedicated To Seeking Out The Truth (At All Costs); Goes Too Far
A fan-favorite who has been going strong from the very first season, Jim Hopper is definitely not someone to be trifled with. After all, he does have a stubborn need to fish out the truth out of any dubious situation.
Hopper regularly crosses a line during his search for the truth — something that puts him and the people around him in hot water more often than not.
8 Mike Wheeler — Loyal To His Friends; Too Reactionary
The character of Mike Wheeler is truly fascinating, but one particular trait out of the many he exhibits that is pretty notable is a need to protect his friends and stay loyal to them at all times.
The fact that he's just a kid is something that should definitely be remembered, especially since he still doesn't have control over his emotions and keeps on reacting disproportionately to situations that even remotely upset him.
7 Eleven — An Open Mind; Temperamental
Given the fact that Eleven has been living in solitude for the longest time, it's only a given that she would want to explore the world by herself and be open to any developments that can happen as a result.
Eleven also has a furious temper that is made even scarier due to her immense powers. It's clear that no one with common sense would want to get on her bad side.
6 Dustin Henderson — Ingenious; Overbearing Personality
Dustin is the go-getter of the group who always manages to figure out a solution in even the most seemingly inescapable conundrums.
Fans have to admit that he can be quite annoying at times, with his overbearing personality being hard to manage for some people.
5 Lucas Sinclair — Pragmatic; Unimaginative
Given the fact that most of the kids end up losing themselves in their own imagination, it's clear that having a presence like Lucas around them is important — he does pull them back to reality more often than not, after all.
However, Lucas suffers from a serious lack of imagination, especially for a kid who is supposed to dream big as opposed to being too grounded.
4 Will Byers — Intelligent For His Age; Very Shy
After his abduction in the first season, Will slowly came into his own as a character... although he had to deal with his innate shyness coupled with the trauma associated with being trapped in the Upside Down with the Demogorgon.
Thankfully, if there's one thing that Will has going for himself, it's the fact that he's pretty smart for his age and can think quickly on his feet with little to no problems.
3 Nancy Wheeler — Committed To The Task At Hand; She's Her Own Worst Enemy
Initially coming off as a jerk of sorts — especially since she was dating the jock Steve Harrington — Nancy Wheeler slowly comes into her own as a character and wows viewers by displaying the dedication and commitment she has when trying to achieve anything.
That being said, Nancy isn't really the most direct person — either with other people or herself — which basically turns her into her own worst enemy at times.
2 Jonathan Byers — A Brave Individual; Not Very Social
Initially coming off as nothing more than a loner of sorts, it's impressive to see just how much Jonathan Byers has developed over the course of the series. Out of all the traits that he has displayed over time, his bravery and willingness to do what's right should definitely be commended.
Jonathan's social skills still need more work — something that is quite certainly a by-product of the bullying he was subjected to in school.
1 Steve Harrington — Being More Self-Aware By The Second; Self-Absorbed
There was a time when Steve Harrington was pretty much universally reviled as one of the most divisive characters on the show, in no small part due to his behavior as a jock and the manner in which he belittled people around him. However, as the seasons progressed, so did his character change.
Steve is still pretty vain and conceited by the time the third season rolled out, but there's no denying the fact that he's definitely more self-aware than before and actively working on improving himself as a person.
