The Pokémon GO team has revealed that Roselia, the Thorn Pokémon, will be featured during February's Community Day event. These monthly events make it substantially easier to catch the Shiny variants of certain Pokémon, and early February will be Roselia's time to take center stage.
Pokémon GO Community Days are events held within Pokémon GO on a monthly basis. Each event features one species of Pokémon that's spawn rate is drastically increased making it much easier to find in the wild. Additionally, the best part of Community Days is that the featured Pokémon also have their Shiny rate increased. While Pokémon GO has the base Shiny odds of around 1/500 per encounter, Community Days raise those odds to 1 in 26 encounters. And that's not all that Community Days have to offer Pokémon GO players.
Pokémon GO published a new blogpost today revealing the details of February's Community Day event. The event will take place on Sunday, February 7th, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. During this time, Roselia will appear more frequently in the wild and will have the increased Community Day Shiny odds. As well, players will experience bonuses in the form of 1/4 hatch distance for eggs placed into incubators during the event, and incense will last for 3 hours instead of the normal 1 hour. Roselia that are evolved during the event, and up to two hours afterward, will become a Roserade that knows Weather Ball and Bullet Seed.
There are also a few paid bonuses that players opt for which will reward the player with exclusive items. Players will be able to purchase a one-time Roselia Community Day box for 1,280 Pokécoins which includes an Elite Fast TM, four incense, four Super Incubators, and 30 Ultra Balls. A special Roselia Community Day exclusive Special Research storyline can also be accessed for $1 USD. The specifics behind the Roselia Special Research will be revealed at a later date. This research is free, however, to those who have purchased a Pokémon GO Kanto Tour event ticket.
Many trainers seem disappointed in Pokémon GO's decision to feature Roselia in February. In a now-removed footnote, Pokémon GO stated that it has heard the feedback of which Pokémon it chooses to highlight during these Community Day events, but some trainers feel as if the choice of Roselia goes against those claims. However, there are many trainers who are excited to finally get a chance to catch a Shiny Roselia without the hassle of hundred and hundreds of encounters.
