Jurassic World's Immediate Aftermath After The Indominus Rex Revealed

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous season 2 reveals what happened to the park immediately after the events of 2015's Jurassic World movie. This provides some insight into the utter destruction left behind, as the only time the park is shown after the Indominus Rex and the T-rex fight is in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, when the Isla Nublar dinosaurs are rescued from an active volcano. Camp Cretaceous shows the state of the island directly after it's evacuated.

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous season 2 follows young campers Darius, Brooklynn, Kenji, Sammy, Yasmina, and Ben as they struggle to survive in the wake of being stranded in the park after Jurassic World. Since Isla Nublar is now overrun with dinosaurs, the team must work together to build shelter, search for food, and attempt to make contact with the outside world. They also need to contend with ruthless big game hunters and a mysterious new threat defrosting underground.

The dinosaurs have retaken Isla Nublar in the days following Jurassic World and Camp Cretaceous season 1. In the opening images of season 2, Stegosauruses, Triceratopses, and Ankylosauruses wander peacefully around the wreckage of camp and through ruined pens. Compys frolic in a Gyrosphere and Pterosaurs soar over the derailed monorail. Blue, Owen's remaining Velociraptor, roams the underground tunnels alone. When the campers make it to Main Street, they find overturned tables, chairs, and patio umbrellas strewn throughout the park's center. When searching for the palm tree holding the emergency beacon, they realize that the T-Rex uses the street as her primary way in and out of her pen. On a hunt for medical supplies for Yasmina, the crew discovers an abandoned makeshift veterinary center full of caged dinosaurs. Rather than leave them imprisoned, they risk their lives to set the dinosaurs free.

Darius also notices the ever-transforming behavior of the dinosaurs. The T-rex seems like she's building a nest out of trees in her area, though Darius refers to it as her lair. Such behavior wouldn't have been possible with tourists around. In another episode, Darius and Kenji come across a watering role where predator and prey hydrate together without confrontation. Darius quotes Dr. Grant, from the original trilogy, and his theory that the watering hole will become a neutral resting place under the proper conditions. Because of the lack of human influence and involvement, the natural balance is restored and the dinosaurs' instincts are more prevalent, thus continuing John Hammond's belief in The Lost World: Jurassic Park that dinosaurs should be left alone.

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous illustrates what happens when dinosaurs are left to thrive. With the introduction of its new mystery dinosaur, the dynamic between and coexistence of the campers and dinosaurs will surely be disrupted in season 3. How the island transforms before the events of Fallen Kingdom will undoubtedly inform, or at the very least contribute to, what happens in Jurassic World: Dominion.
