IOI’s final hurrah in the World of Assassination trilogy will wrap up the story arc for Agent 47 and Diana that first began back in 2016. IO Interactive has been sharing a plethora of snippets and teasers in the run up to the release of Hitman 3. With even more stunning locations and new gameplay mechanics already shown off, Agent 47’s last outing (at least for the foreseeable future) looks to be full to the brim with stealth kills and dress up opportunities.
Sharing even more information about the upcoming release on its Twitter feed, IO Interactive has revealed that there will be 47 trophies that gamers need to achieve within Hitman 3 before they can unlock the game’s World of Assassination Platinum Trophy award. A fitting number to send off the barcoded assassin. The lack of a Platinum Trophy in previous Hitman titles was something that fans felt was missing from the gameplay, so this news will be welcomed by many. Alluding to the difficulty and patience that unlocking all 47 trophies required to obtain the new Platinum Trophy, however, IOI simply sign off the tweet by wishing its followers “Good Luck!”
Previous installments to IO Interactive's Hitman franchise have required gamers to disguise Agent 47 in a particular outfit to take out a target, as well as completing escalations across various levels to earn rewards. Without giving away any spoilers, fans of the series can expect the same formula to apply to a number of the 47 trophies required to unlock the Platinum Trophy.
While it will be sad to say goodbye to Agent 47 and Diana after 5 years of assassinations and travel, IO Interactive has started work on a new game within the James Bond series. Simply known as Project 007, at least for now, the developer recently advertised a variety of jobs surrounding its upcoming title. Focusing on the start of James Bond’s career as a double-o, the new game will not feature any of the already known foes from the series. Despite the lack of Jaws to take on, this future game will give fans of Hitman 3 something to new look forward to once they have earned their Platinum Trophies.
Hitman 3 will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia on January 20, 2021, and it will release on Nintendo Switch at an unannounced date.
