Gilmore Girls: Paris' 5 Best (& 5 Worst) Story Arcs | ScreenRant

On Gilmore Girls, Paris Geller was probably the last person who would become best pals with Rory. From the minute she met Paris, Rory wanted nothing to do with her mean personality and disregard for others. But ultimately, these two did connect with each other and found a way to get along. Now, fans love their friendship.

Paris could be harsh but she always spoke her mind and no one could argue with her wisdom and desire to say whatever was bugging her that day. While some of Paris' storylines helped fans understand her better, others were either too silly to take seriously or didn't move her arc forward.

10 Best: She Spilled About Lorelai And Max To The Whole School

Paris could insult people but it was often because she was hiding how she was really feeling.

In the season 1 episode "Paris Is Burning," Paris spilled that Lorelai and Max were dating to all of Chilton. Rory was embarrassed and Paris was trying to hurt her feelings. This ended up being an interesting story arc for Paris, as Rory found out that she was mean for a good reason: her parents were splitting up. It was fascinating to see Paris lash out and then reveal that she was actually insecure and having a hard time at home.

9 Worst: She Lost Her Virginity, Got Rejected, And Freaked Out

While Gilmore Girls fans love the hilarious things Paris always said, she had a tough moment near the end of the third season.

Paris lost her virginity to her boyfriend Jamie, and when she didn't get into Harvard, she freaked out. Worse, she announced what had happened while she and Rory were making a speech at Chilton — and CSPAN was filming it. This was one of the worst parts of Paris's story, as the show made her out to seem like an unhinged person having a breakdown. She could have quietly shared with Rory that she was having a hard time instead.

8 Best: She Found The Perfect Outlet For Her Energy

In the Netflix revival A Year In The Life, fans learned what happened to Paris, and it was mostly good.

Paris created her own company that helped couples start families through fertility treatments. It was nice to see Paris running a business, as she clearly had a lot of ambition and energy, and she put her work ethic to good use here. Instead of hurting other people, she was helping them, so this was a great story arc that showed her growth.

7 Worst: She Dated An Older Prof Then Grieved His Death

What was the point of Paris dating Asher Fleming? Rory wasn't comfortable with the fact that her friend and roommate was dating someone who was so much older, and this just made Paris more certain that she didn't get along with people her own age.

This story arc got even worse when Asher passed away. Paris has had truly awful luck in matters of the heart, and this was another reminder of her sad experiences. It would have been more satisfying to see Paris in a happy and successful relationship.

6 Best: She And Rory Banded Together When The Other Girls Left A Concert

The characters had many dreams in season 1, but for Rory, bonding with her Chilton classmates wasn't one of them. However, Lorelai thought that it might be smart to invite Paris, Madeline, and Louise to a Bangles concert, so that's what happened in the episode "Concert Interruptus."

Madeline and Louise went to a party instead, and Paris and Rory realized that they liked spending time together since they weren't into hanging out with older guys. By the end of the episode, the two characters were getting to know each other, and it was really sweet. This showed fans that Paris had a kind side to her and marked a change in her relationship with Rory.

5 Worst: She And Rory Went On A Spring Break Trip

Some Gilmore Girls jokes don't hold up today and neither does this story arc: Paris and Rory went away on spring break and Paris tried to have more fun than she normally did.

For her, that meant kissing Rory. This was an awkward moment that didn't seem like it needed to happen. It was also odd to see these two characters in a spring break situation, as they weren't the type of people to enjoy that kind of vacation, and it didn't move their friendship forward.

4 Best: She Became Drunk With Power At The Yale Daily News

Gilmore Girls fans knew that Paris could go too far and that's exactly what happened when she was editor of the Yale Daily News.

It's fair to say that Paris let power get the best of her as she screamed at the staff and made everyone feel terrible. She was fired and replaced by Rory, and this was one of Paris's best story arcs, as it showed her that there were consequences for her actions. While it was admirable that she was passionate and ambitious, she had to calm down and treat people better.

3 Worst: She Blamed Rory For Her Bad Date With Tristan

There were many times when Rory and Paris hated each other and the charming but conceited Tristan Dugray got in the middle of their new friendship.

He had a crush on Rory, but she said he should go on a date with Paris, so that's what happened. Rory loaned her some of Lorelai's clothes and helped her figure out what to wear for the evening. Unfortunately, the date wasn't good and Tristan made it clear he wanted to have a platonic relationship with Paris. Instead of accepting that, Paris got angry at Rory and tried to get revenge at school and also with the Chilton newspaper. This wasn't a great story arc for Paris, as it was yet another example of how cruel she could be, and it felt like retreading the same terrain.

2 Best: She Was Upset About Rory And Bonded With Lorelai

The characters on Gilmore Girls weren't always the best parents. However, they each had moments when they truly shined, and Lorelai was always kind to Rory's friends Lane and Paris.

In the sixth season, Paris couldn't believe that Rory had stolen a yacht and dropped out of Yale. She wasn't pleased with this and would often talk to Lorelai at the Dragonfly Inn. Watching these two characters bond was sweet and moving, as they were such an unlikely pair.

1 Worst: She And Doyle Met At Yale, Had A Long Romance, Then Were Splitting Up

Fans loved seeing Paris and Doyle together, as they were both quirky people who didn't feel like they fit into the mold of who others expected them to be. Paris learned how to love and take care of someone else during this relationship, especially when Doyle got sick and Paris had her nanny look after him, then realized she should have done it herself.

It was a disappointment to learn that this couple was splitting up in the Netflix revival. They had amazing careers, two children, and a beautiful home, and yet their relationship was falling apart. This was one of the worst things the show had Paris go through, as it seemed like they could have figured things out.
