Fans of The Bachelorette split into two camps when Clare Crawley and fiancé Dale Moss got engaged—those who supported the couple, and those who felt their romance moved too fast to last. The latter camp now has rights to issue a great big I-told-you-so to the former, as Clare and Dale have officially split.
When the 39-year-old from Sacramento, California, was announced to be the next Bachelorette, Bachelor Nation fans were excited to watch Clare’s journey unfold and looked forward to a more mature lead. But it was a season that wasn’t meant to be — as soon as former football player Dale Moss stepped out of the limo, it was game over. With her jaw practically on the floor, Clare let slip, “I definitely feel like I just met my husband,” and from then on she only had eyes for Dale. Producers decided to eschew the usual show format, letting Clare and Dale get engaged after only 12 days, and bringing in Tayshia Adams as a replacement. But apparently, it wasn't all rainbows and sunshine between Clare and Dale since their engagement, and while fans have been speculating as to the status of the couple’s relationship, Dale recently took to Instagram to confirm the breakup.
On Tuesday afternoon, Dale revealed first in an IG story and then in a post that his relationship with Clare is over. "I wanted share [sic] with you all that Clare and I have decided to go our separate ways," the post states. "We appreciate the love and support we've received from so many people, but this is the healthiest decision for both of us at this time." Fans had been gathering clues about Clare and Dale’s status on social media, and US Weekly initially reported that the couple was on a break. “Dale and Clare are technically still together but there are serious issues they are working through,” a source relayed to the publication. “They’re in communication but on a break.” But it would seem that the break was short-lived, and the couple ultimately decided to end the relationship. While Dale has confirmed the split, as of Tuesday evening, Clare has not issued a comment.
Following their engagement, the couple had been extremely active on social media, regularly posting Instagram updates and popular Tik Tok videos. Some even hinted that Dale and Clare were considering having children. But more recently, the lovey-dovey content dried up — Clare has posted to Instagram only twice in the new year, one of which was an emotional post about her mother. While Dale didn't acknowledge Clare’s heartfelt post, others in Bachelor Nation left comments of support, most notably her former fiancé and Bachelor Winter Games alum Benoît Beauséjour-Savard.
In the span of a year, high-profile Bachelor Nation couples Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum and Krystal Nielson and Chris Randone also split up, as well as several others, and now Clare and Dale's relationship is in the past as well. Fans of The Bachelorette will undoubtedly be disappointed, but they're not necessarily surprised — rumors had been circulating, but nobody could have known how true the rumors turned out to be. We wish the best to Clare and Dale as they go their separate ways.
