Bachelorette: Tayshia & Zac Kept Relationship 'Incognito' With Face Masks

During the final weeks of The Bachelorette season 16, there were countless rumors circling about how Tayshia Adams' journey to find love ended. Blogger Reality Steve was convinced she gave Zac Clark the final rose, but the engagement didn't last. However, the couple is still going strong and found creative ways to secretly be out and about together. They credit COVID-19 safety measures like face masks and social distancing for helping them remain "incognito" in public until the finale aired on Tuesday.

Tayshia's reign as The Bachelorette was relatively smooth compared to past seasons. On the heels of her divorce from a relationship that ended due to infidelity, she went into the experience knowing exactly what she wanted – someone to "show up" for her, and only her. The men casted to vie for her (and Clare Crawley's) heart were outstanding, and Tayshia admitted she could've seen herself getting engaged to several. But there was always something about Zac Clark. They simply clicked. Though he led a dark past battling drug and alcohol addiction, Zac matched Tayshia's goofy side and always had her laughing. He also knew what he wanted – a future with Tayshia.

The season ended with Tayshia and Zac riding away in a cardboard taxi that read, "Just engaged" on the back bumper. But for the first time in Bachelorette history, there was no After The Final Rose, which reveals the current status of the couple. Instead, Tayshia, 30, and Zac, 36, appeared together virtually on Good Morning America to let fans know they're still living out their happily ever after. So, how did Reality Steve get it so wrong? As reported by People, the relationship has remained a secret thanks to COVID-19 mitigation efforts. "It's been a tad bit easier because sneaking around hasn't been so hard to hide because not many people are out and about," Tayshia said. Her fiancé added, "Cheers to masks, right? This is like the one good thing to come from that. I've been able to throw on a mask and do what I want."

It appears Tayshia has no regrets about her decision to choose Zac over Ivan Hall and Ben Smith. She said, "I've never been in a relationship like this before. Our communication is phenomenal and I feel really safe with Zac. It just feels so right, and I can't wait to experience life with him by my side." According to Tayshia, she and Zac have "a lot of fun plans coming up," including her move from California to New York. He said he can't wait to "date the heck out of her ... She has a one-way ticket to New York. We're going to get comfortable."

Whether or not Bachelorette viewers wanted Zac to be the last man standing, seeing two individuals find true happiness was a welcome end to this unprecedented year. Both Tayshia and Zac had their fair share of past heartache and struggles, and both are deserving of brighter days. Additionally, given The Bachelor franchise's track record for failed relationships, it's exciting to see the process produce one that's (so far) successful.
