Wonder Woman Was Just Blinded In DC Comics | Screen Rant

Warning: Spoilers for Wonder Woman #765

Despite their past - and a potent lingering tension - Wonder Woman and Maxwell Lord have begrudgingly teamed up in recent issues with a mission to stop Lord's stolen mind control technology from running amok. In the most recent issue, Wonder Woman #765, they found themselves traveling to Zandia, a.k.a DC's version of super-villain Vegas, to find out who has their eye on the dangerous technology floating around the black market. Unfortunately, Diana couldn't see what was coming.

Where else would two people on a mission to get info on the seedy workings of the super-villain community go other than a hub like Zandia? Especially when one of the two is, supposedly, an ex-villain himself? Considering they are crunched for time before Lord's stolen technology falls into the wrong hands, jumping right into the fire seemed to make the most sense for them. It helps that Lord's powers could disguise Wonder Woman's true identity from evil prying eyes. Although, it soon proves mighty hard for Wonder Woman to remain a fly on the wall in a place full of crime, deceit, and violence.

In an attempt to curb a fight in the casino at Zandia, Wonder Woman jumps into the fray. In the chaos, Lord slips out of her sight and follows a criminal into a back room where the criminal attempts to kill him. Of course, Diana saves the day, but not before reprimanding Lord for not working as a team and listening to her when she said to stay within her sights. The good news is that despite the attempt on Lord's life, they did get a tip that Vertigo is the one after the mind control technology.

So, the two took flight to find the power hungry villain in Wonder Woman's invisible plane. It's after they take to the skies that readers soon realize all of the references to Wonder Woman keeping things in her sight and looking for what she doesn't see coming were all foreshadowing the fate their flight would bring her. In the sky, before she even knew what hit her, a mysterious green light appeared out of nowhere, causing Diana to lose control and make a sudden crash landing in the forest surrounding Zandia. In the aftermath, Lord finds Diana. But when he does, he finds that she's been blinded.

In the middle of a very important mission, a seemingly mysterious force has caused Diana to be blinded by the light. How are the odd duo supposed to complete their mission now that Lord's eyes are the only ones to guide them through the night? When so much of Wonder Woman's ability involves being able to see what lies ahead of her, how is she supposed to navigate the possible impending crisis if she can't even see what's coming? It will be especially difficult for her because she's going to have to completely rely on Lord, a man she still can't find it in herself to fully trust. Readers will have to wait for the next issue to find answers to how in the world Diana will be able to function without being able to see, and how Lord will step up to fill the void. Looks like whatever doubt Diana has left about Lord will have to be put aside, because right now he may be their only hope.
