GOTHAM Star Donal Logue Joins the RESIDENT EVIL Reboot Film

Donal Logue (Gotham) has been cast in director Johannes Roberts’ upcoming Resident Evil reboot film. He will be taking on the role of Chief Irons in the film, which will tell an origin story from the Resident Evil world.

The story for the film will include “faithful ties to Capcom’s classic survival horror games,” and it’s set to take place on a fateful night in Raccoon City in 1998. The cast of the film will fill the roles of the iconic game characters.

Logue is joining the previously announced cast that includes Kaya Scodelario (Crawl) as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell (Upload) as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) as Leon S. Kennedy, and Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) as William Birkin. Chad Rook (The Flash) and Lily Gao (The Handmaid’s Tale) also have been cast in supporting roles.

When previously talking about the film the director shared what he was looking to do with the film, saying, “With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and recreate the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences.”

It’s said that the movie will kick off “a new universe inspired by storylines and characters from Capcom’s classic Resident Evil games.” It will be released theatrically in 2021.
