Below Deck Med: Why Chef Tom Checketts Really Had That Galley Meltdown

Why did Chef Tom Checketts have that galley meltdown on Below Deck Med. The newest Bravo star is seemingly at his wit's end with the Wellington and is looking forward to his last charter of the season.

The yacht chef has had a very difficult time adjusting to his new status on the mega boat. He has rubbed everyone the wrong way with his rude attitude, including Captain Sandy. While the Englishman claims he has worked for some tough chefs in the past such as Gordon Ramsey, he often cracks under pressure.

On the most recent episode of Below Deck Mediterranean, viewers were amazed that the professional decided it was okay to go and have a minor break down in the walk-in fridge over poorly delivered rations. Captain Sandy made a great point when she pointed out that she had enough choices with other food to still make a great meal for the guests. Tom was just choosing to look at the negative.

Fans watched in awe as Tom revealed to Malia that he felt “disrespected” even though most would argue that he had been the one with respect issues. Tom is stewing about the lack of a fridge set up asking the cameras why the boat even has a good chef if they aren’t willing to have good ingredients. Captain Sandy decided to try to intervene, but Tom’s negative attitude did not sit well with her, leading her to call a pre-charter meeting. During the meeting, she singled out Tom for his appalling behavior and even teared up a little in front of her crew. Captain Sandy’s motivational speech hits home with most of the crew who are also over this wreck of a season. But Tom still finds issues to gripe about. Many viewers have pointed out that Tom never wanted or asked to be a reality star. To him, he was just doing his girlfriend a favor. So, when he yells at Captain Sandy or makes Asesha Scott cry, he has no idea the ramifications it will have within the fandom.

Bravo fans feel it is safe to believe that Tom will be a one and done type character. Even though he does make for some great TV, it would be a miracle if he decided to sign on for another season. Tom is most likely looking forward to having his meltdowns in the safety of his own private fridge.
